Notes Transfer: Ewt Goddess of Crossroads
An Ewtfolk godess, perhaps once an epithet for the Mother Herself. For a long time she was confounded with cognate Thriggwig (Trivie) and many Ewt groups saw this coalescing people as worshipping Her. Thus, in few kith groups, we see the Sun become the Goddess of Crossroads. Makes sense.
Big exceptions would be: -The Lizards, whose original “crossroads” referent is more earthy -??? If the Lizard’s referent is the older one of *trivia, then... -Imagery of Time/Fate as tunnels we have chosen to go down -Goddess of Crossroads = Goddess of “Fate”/Time (ie the one who visits you to let you know what path to take) -Presides over Trade and Treaty (popular shrines; associated rituals)
A common cultural phenomenon is seeing Beekers/Ewts invoke Sun for all deals/public decisions. NOT Lizards, though. -Lizard image of following a path that is beneath the Earth? OR an Earth-form walking this path, trying to direct your feet? -Image of Sun at crossroads/chap sites. (makes sense anyway!) -Thg Trivvy (see below) -Outlander chaps who take on Sun mark find more favor in Thriggwig Praxis -”Do not deal at night” (not abided by everyone) -Show wares/goods/shat to the Sun to ensure the deal is fair. The idea is, I suppose, that if isn’t it’ll RAIN or something -Trivvy-fee, an expected ‘tithe’ to Sun at crossroads -(Lizards) Marking the ground tread by notable figures -Ewtfolk officials will invoke Sun to “shine on their choice of step” when making impactful decisions or passing judgement
