Notes Transfer - Guvlin Culture in Rigluanklat @TOP
The story I was going to examine here was that of Rick Lubey’s death and how it affects the area. I was scrolling through the book prompts and chose “Fall of a leader, end of an era”, even though this happened in a player campaign. Rick Lubey is definitely a name I’d have to change if I ever wanted to do something with any of this, but it is taken from Riglubiyet which I think was originally a play off Maglubiyet and T B H formed a huge chunk of the core vocabulary of goblinloid languages I’ve been making so...that’ll have to be handled eventually.
Anywho, an examination ensued of Cuvlin culture as it stands at Rigluanklat (Riggle Wanklet :) )
-The concept of the *higglk is likely Guvlin in origin, perhaps an adoption of some Bugbear sensibility or custom. Either way, the pillar of community that is the *higglk(kag) has precedent to be changed in Reeling culture -We know that Guvlin in the area have long valued art and creation -Nowadays Riggle Wanklet puts a lot of value on what they produce that neighbors want -Giving gifts of symbolic significance to Hoaxes and gods -I think behind the nowadays Urgurslin movement I had written in some concept of Pan-Guvlin reuinification or something similar. So perhaps some influential Reeling *higglk developed the concept of the *wowog or maybe *wowon, the All-Wug :) -*bibog or *bobog -> How would establishing a huge civ on the tallest mountain change leif and lore? -Rats as loving, cuddly pets - Isugbiyet -Longer, more convoluted naming conventions? -Perhaps a developed attitude toward Life and “freedom” as NO fear of predators? -The concept that upon death the soul is picked apart (as bodies are), and contributes to the Souls of other Hoaxes and such -Perhaps the concept of *krrs as a “summoned” creature is absent in Reeling Guvlin, and continues as a wild animal? -Attitudes around fruit - it’s GODLIKE! -Hrig,Srig, Rig as Mythic Founder -*ha(m)keg as creature hunted to extinction by dragons and Guvlin -Group! Magic!
Agriculture would eventually take root (:)) once the Reeling understood what and how to grow in mountain soil It was during this transitionary period that Guvlin *higglk circulated the concept of from one, many the idea that even just one successful seed would yield many if properly tended, and that this concept could be applied to all things In popular Reeling thought, this leads to the figure of *Hrig. Originally a name for the Big Rigly peak, devised in the Great Language Game and filtering over to the Reeling themselves. WHAT is the displaced word? Is it still around? After the growth of this from-one-many idea, Rig would become the First Guvlin, and perhaps the First Gob (at different times or places).
The founding of *Rigluank-lat shows not only the start of something resembling veneration but also a lingusitc trend of dedication to Rig. Perhaps the deification would be aided by Heavenly Hoff influence. Maybe the Hoff even deified Rig officially. The trend of referring to oneself as “your lower” (ig-lu-biyet) would converge with this naming convention for a very popular pattern lasting p much until Rick Lubey arrives on the scene (as he encouraged some degree of Thrigwigization)
Is Rick’s home’s story one about deification and perversion of an image of a beloved leader? Is the Thrigwiggized name going to be Riggle Wanklet? (Looks like it) How does the rest of Easter view Big Rigly and the Mountains?
Known Hoaxes of the Rigly Guvlin
*Rig - Riyeg, Riyig, Rihlat, etc. The High Hoax of the Tallest Peak, or the First Gub
*Ngis - Ngiyes, Ngiyis, -lat, etc) The High Hoax of Hunters, and at this current moment seen as the First Hobgob
*Urgurs
HOW did the Guvlin experience *Trogdor? Presumably she stayed deep in the Brokebacks, even as Ewtfolk and Beekers went their own ways. -Deep Reeling Guvlin would have likely run into them first, Fore-beekers or Fore-Lizarde, as they moved deeper -Deep Reeling Guvlin would not have been able to move deeper until Agriculture -Language Crossing - Fore-Beeker, Fore-Lizarde + Fore Deep Reeling? -’talon’ > talo-n “footsteps”?
So WHAT is the organization of Guvlin society @TOP? A continuation of the BO system (bos/wog). The *bos instructs the *wog on where to move, where to live, and takes on different responsibilities at different times and places
In Riggle Wanklet, the *bos is nominated and chosen from among popular leaders upon the death of the previous, HOWEVER as Rick has p much outlived 2 generations or so, there’s been time to forget and consider something different. It is this question of how to proceed that can become the crux of change in Riggle Wanklet Also there, the Igglin were codified into a priestly class, a function that the Woxrot at HRrAB would eventually emulate.
