Do you think Jason’s owner would mind if I sold her horse to the dog food factory?
So I couldn’t mount him today. He’s been getting worse and worse over the past few weeks, and really we should have done something about it before now. But I worked for half an hour trying to convince him to stand by the mounting block, and no. He’d get there, and I’d shower him with treats and praise and he’d relax, but he’s so long trying to feed him treats and get myself on the mounting block doesn’t work. As soon as I get up there, he’s running backwards. Then he just got really good at being just that little bit too far away. Just half a step too far over, or back, or forward. Ugh. It’s so frustrating, and annoying, and I know he’s not doing it to piss me off, but, ugh, it felt like it.
Eventually admitted defeat and made him work on the lunge instead. Just because he won’t stand does not mean no work mister. New start tomorrow, and there will be more people on the yard tomorrow too, so I can hopefully rope in some help to at least offer suggestions.
I did completely gut his stable and scrub the floor though, so at least I achieved something!
