HELLO RUIDUS ENTHUSIASTS HOW ARE WE FEELING
Because I woke up with a fucking axe to grind here’s an actual hot fucking take: The way the fucking CR Twitter fandom has treated Dani and the show is utterly disgusting and you can clearly see it. In the four sided dive episode with Tal, Sam, Laura and Liam she refuses to be in the camera and is even asked who she ships in the cast and adamantly refuses and says “she doesn’t do that no more “. I wonder why ? Surely it’s not the fandom calling her and the cast pedophiles for shipping jester and fjord or even manipulating the cast and the script to get her way. And what about four sided dive ? Why the evergreen questions only? Sure Brian left but that should have no effect on the questions asked ? It can’t be because there was a fan page where critters said shit about a persons dead father, how they threaten someone’s child, how the show and cast queer baits, how essek is albiest for floating, etc… and the kicker is SOME OF THEM SENT THAT SHIT. you may be asking what sparked this post ? Simple : the show comes back this Thursday and there will be some controversy. Cause this fandom hates the show more than any outsider ! Bonus: people were also complaining and crying about CR doing some copyright ( read the doc, it’s pretty lax for copyright anyone can and will tell you. ). I’m glad they are crying, they literally said they were going to claim there character as they own. You can pull receipts on the tweets🤗
Edit: I just want to apologize if this felt too extreme, but these performative accounts who hate watch need to leave the fandom
REWATCHING THE EXANDRIA HISTORY VIDEO AND MOTHERFUCKING MATTHEW MERCER
THERE'S ONLY ONE MOON. IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US ALL THIS TIME
[ID: A digital painting of the Allhammer, from Exandria lore. He is a faceless dwarf, with holding a flaming-white heart in his hands, braids blowing back in the heat. He is framed by wrought gold depicting mountains, clouds, etc. An etched green and gold hammer, with dwarf faces on each end, rests at the bottom of the frame.]
Here's my take on Moradin, the Allhammer, for the @artists-guild-of-exandria Beyond the Divine Gate project. It was really fun to dig-in to the lore of a deity I wasn't very familiar with, to find how I wanted to express his essence in my art. You can find more art from this project in the hashtag below, or by following the Artist Guild of Exandria here or on Twitter! So many amazing artists participated in this project, it was really cool to see everyone's art come together!
After an hour of looking through the Critical Role wiki and trying to figure out what the hell is going on, I have THOUGHTS and a theory. Also idk how to make those long post cuts on mobile so sorry but it's LONG.
If you haven't read the wiki for Alyxian, go do that bc almost everything I have is based on him.
Alyxian is also known as "The Paragon", and since his awakening (in 830PD) has been calling out to the deities who once blessed him so send heroes to save him.
There's so much to unpack here. The Paragon is Calling out. Paragons. Call.
He was awakened in 830 PD. Our campaign starts in 843 PD. And Ruidus born have been popping up frequently in the last 10-20 years.
2 of the 3 dieties that blessed Alyxian are heavily involved in the Feyrealm. (Corellon, and Sehenine also known as the Moonweaver).
Corruption is a huge theme this campaign. Alyxian and the Netherdeep are both corrupted by "unknown planar magic". You know what else is heavily involved with "unknown planar magic"??? Ruidus.
So my guess is they're going to be led to Netherdeep to free Alyxian, they will be opposed by the Paragons Call, who probably want to harvest Ruidium despite its corruptive properties, and in the process they're going to find the tear to the unknown plane, and the one or more Ruidus born in the party will be able to seal up the tear, and probably use it to travel to Ruidus itself and seal the much much older tear that resides there. But not before defeating the corrupted, and generally fucked up city from the Far Realm that leaked out when Ruidus first popped up.
The Far realm is where most of the corruption of the world comes from. It's where Aboleths and Beholders come from, and it's where Torog the Crawling King was banished to. There's also a tidbit about people who dream on the borders of the far realm can sometimes dream things into being. So... Imogen is maybe going to cause the storm by dreaming too close to a rift?
Now, if we're looking to either get rid of Ruidus or cause Calamity pt 2: Moon Madness, the prime dieties WILL be involved, and probably the ones who blessed Alyxian in the first place. Their champions?
Orym for Avandra. His wonder at the world around him and how much he loves to travel, not to mention he's lucky, and the Air Ashari are always free spirited. Ashton may also work as Avandra is fond of chance and Ashton is one of the most magically chaotic and reliant on chance.
Chetney for Sehanine. Werewolf... Moonweaver... also Sehanine is the protector of the "tryst of lovers" (insert FearnxChetney joke here). Laudna could work here too, what with all her illusion magic and her dark nature.
As for Corellan, I'm still debating. Laudna is undead, and if we want to stretch a connection Corellan is connected loosely to the Blooming Grove so..eh? Also Corellans followers tend to find art is the mundane and Laudna is always doing that. I can't see Ashton or FCG really fitting either..
I've now been looking into this for 3 hours straight... no one in my house watches Critical Role. Pls someone scream your thoughts and theories at me.
Things get funky when you start to think of Exandria through the eyes of the elementals. If you really sit and think about it the prime deities are like colonizers except instead of stealing the land for themselves they stole it to raise their favorite pets.
I keep watching EXU calamity and every time I do I’m one step closer to deciding to DM a campaign in Exandria where my players end up somehow discovering even the smallest thing about the ring of brass so that even though I made it up someone knows about them and what they did. Even if it’s just a fragment of something, a name or a broken piece of technology, just anything! The idea that some of the best characters I’ve ever seen brought to life through this game being forgotten completely breaks something inside of me and I know that it was supposed to and god they all did so well, but I don’t know. I think it’s the same part of my brain that rages at the mere mention of the library of Alexandria and the thought of all that lost knowledge and history.
Since we first heard about the Hishari, I have been wondering where the village used to be.
Like I have been looking at different versions of the map of Issylra and I don't even have a guess.
Like Pyrah is already on Issylra so where would a cult village that took the "darker path" of the Ashari be? (used to)
I really want to find out and I really hope that we learn more about Hishari and maybe, maybe actually find the location. Soon is better but before the end of the campaign at least.
But if not then at least I know my campaign 3 wrap up question already 😅
