say what you will about black widow but it had an absolutely accurate portrayal of a relationship between sisters
...how do you accidentally rescue a cat??
Yeah, uhm, what happened was, there were those ‘missing’ posters all around the neighbourhood for a little guy named Maverick, and I’d snapped a photo of one of them so I could remember what he looked like because I generally look at cats (and for cats) when I’m out and about, and then this morning I was on the balcony and saw him in the garden! Or, at least, it looked a lot like him? So I went down, followed ‘Maverick’ through a hole in the hedge like I was in some Lewis Carroll book, and when he finally stopped by someone else’s door I took a photo of him and wrote a message to his owner, all like ‘He’s here! I think it’s him and he’s here and he’s all happy and friendly!’ and as I was waiting for a reply I reread the poster to make sure this was actually Maverick (because another time, yeah, I trapped a black kitty in a bush and she looked a lot like ‘Frieda’ but apparently Frieda had been home for ages and ages and those were some old-ass posters and I still feel sorry I scared that cat and ugh), well, funny thing - I noticed the address was, like, exactly where the cat was - this Maverick guy was sitting in front of his own house, yeah, and that’s when my phone buzzed and someone wrote back, ‘Oh thanks, he actually came back three days ago so it’s all good’ and anyway I got to pet a cat called Maverick so I guess the day wasn’t a total disaster but gaaaaah.
Welcome Home and the NYT Games Website (this is about Online Third Places kind of)
(stay with me here pls I have things to say its not about welcome home lore but its about the internet as a whole )
The new welcome home update was awesome. I loved every bit of it- I'm still actually trying to unscramble the bug letters, but I'll have plenty of time over winter break. I loved everything it was so cool and I felt Sweet Lavender in my SOUL and the art and voice acting was amazing and I just. I cant repeat enough. I am more of a passive fan, but every time theres an update, I'm in it. And baby, I'm IN it.
That being said (now to my point lmao)
One of the reasons I like the welcome home website is because as soon as you become an adult theres not as many fun things to do on the internet. sure, social media, sure Pinterest, yeah Tumblr. but everything is kind of based on other people?
Internet games were so fun as a kid and theres no fun free things to do on the internet so I just end up scrolling or watching stuff without using my brain, y'know?
The welcome home website is a fun place to go on the internet and the purpose is to use your brain to solve a puzzle and find clues and youre rewarded for your patience and exploring. Despite being a totally different kind of website, it gave me the same feeling I had when I was a kid logging onto GirlsGoGames or playing something on CoolMathGames and just entertaining myself on there.
I think as adults this is why I do the NYT games (and now the linkden games) daily, religiously. It's part of my daily to-do list. It's fun and it has no comment section. I have a routine with it. I don't have an account on either website, but I'm visiting every day.
I don't know I just find it interesting. The prefrontal cortex is so starved for engagement, the fun of figuring out a puzzle and the reward of being right.
Tumblr is really fun don't get me wrong but its more of a "looking" website for me, I want a puzzle to solve
anyway this is why I love Welcome Home so much as an activity and also everyone should play the linkden games
When you spend enough time ignoring your growing health issues you hit like...a point every so often where you hit a NEW problem and you have to acclimate to it and suddenly you're scared again like what do you mean I'm randomly losing vision in one eye what do you mean my leg will stop moving and lose all function for a split second just long enough to make me fall what do you mean there's a constant feeling of something foreign inside my body that will never go away without medical intervention wild
Anyone else getting strange tractor/ farming video blogs following them? Is this a new bot?
