It had been months since Touya had been back in Unova between all his travels. Even so, the moment he walked out of the airport and took a good look around it felt like he’d never left. He supposed traversing the region so many times would ingrain the sights and smells of it deeply into his mind. It was for this reason that he found himself at a loss on what to do with his time while he laid uselessly in his old bedroom. He’d already paid visits to his old friends, Cheren and Bianca, and stopped by Juniper’s lab once. He’d been hesitant to pay the professor a visit since he knew she would ask him about what he was up to and while he knew Juniper would be intrigued by his travels he couldn’t help but feel under-accomplished for a former Unova champion.
When he spoke to her he admitted he’d been feeling a bit bored at home and she suggested he join her for a premiere party for the latest Pokestar Studios film. She’d been invited by a trainer she knew and had an extra invitation...Mei, was it? And that was how Touya found himself in the colorful Pokestar ballroom surrounded with lively burgeoning actors and prominent filmmakers from around the region. He felt out of place at such a party even though this is exactly the sort of event he might have found himself at when he was just a young trainer traveling the region.
He stood awkwardly near the bar with a half-empty drink in hand so not to stick out too much. It was only after a few very long minutes had passed that Juniper returned to him with a wide-eyed girl by her side. She wore her hair in two buns and wore a dazzling gown for the party. He recognized her from the movie posters, so he wondered if she was an actress in this particular film. Juniper leaned over to whisper something in her ear that seemed to pique her excitement, so Touya decided to speak up.
“I’m Touya, a former trainer of Juniper’s,” he held out his hand for a shake. “It’s nice to meet you.”
