Percy’s fatal flaw isn’t simply loyalty.
Percy Jackson’s Fatal Flaw is EXCESSIVE PERSONAL LOYALTY.
I just wanted to make the distinction.
The definition of loyalty is the quality of being loyal.
Excessive Personal Loyalty refers to a situation where an individual's commitment to another person or entity becomes so strong that it overrides good judgment, ethical principles, and personal well-being.
A loyal person would still sacrifice somebody or something for the “greater good”
Percy Jackson would not, Percy Jackson could not, Percy Jackson would not be able to tell if somebody wants to betray him because he can’t fathom he can’t comprehend that someone who cared about him someone who considered themselves his friend would do that. Percy Jackson is prepared to let the world burn to save his friends and family. Percy Jackson only joined the world of the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology to get his mom back. The only reason Percy Jackson helped after that was because he had become what he considered close friends with Annabeth and Grover he could not betray them. He could not leave them. Not when he thought they were a time of need. People forget that the only reason Percy Jackson accepted to go on his first quest was so he could go to the underworld and try and get his mom back. People forget that Percy Jackson did not and does not give a dam about the gods and goddesses. Well slight correction he cares about a few of them such as his father. Because Percy Jackson, as a person believes that his father is family. And the thing that Percy Jackson cares about most in the world is his family. He will move mountains and burn cities to protect them. That is the reason Percy Jackson Fought Kronos. Even though all he ever wanted was to be a normal kid. That was why when given the chance he asked the Olympians to build more cabins to claim their children by 13 to honor the wishes of Luke Castellan and Ethan Nakamura. To honor all those who had fallen friends and family. Allies and enemies. Foes and forgotten. All lost to young. None who lived long enough.
I don’t know. I just thought it was important distinction to make.
