Spotlight: CWRU’s Taiwanese American Student Association!
Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Taiwanese American Student Association is a growing Asian-American student organization challenging itself to grow into an organization that is not only community-oriented but also mission-oriented in regards to promoting Asian-American awareness. Recently, CWRU TASA has become more involved with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to join with other student cultural organizations to build a stronger, unified multi-cultural community with one mission to advocate for cultural diversity awareness on campus. In November 2015, for the first time, CWRU TASA hosted a speaker, Arthur Chu, to talk about Asian-American stereotypes at their annual Plum Blossom Banquet. Besides having authentic Taiwanese food, our TASA wanted the audience to experience an Asian-American sharing his cultural background and how it affected who he is today. CWRU TASA strives to promote multi-cultural awareness through stimulating thoughts and conversations involving Asian-American issues.
