What are relationships like between the presidents?Are any of them friends or enemies?

Yess!! Much of the story revolves around the “human” aspects of the presidents!!!

Here are some focal relationships in the plot!!

-Harding is in a bit of a codependent relationship (which looks like a deep friendship if not something more?) with Coolidge

-Van Buren is Jackson’s most loyal ally and closest confidant

-FDR and Hoover hate each other

-Jefferson and Adams are in a frenemy-situationship

-Truman has a one-sided hatred for Pierce but also a very slight crush on him 💀

-Ike and Grant are bros

-FDR is TR’s fanboy

-FDR and Arthur bond over being fancy fellas

-TR and Taft have fully reconciled and are bffs!!

Here’s the current synopsis:

“A team of researchers in Southern California at the enigmatic Clay-Jennings Institute embark on a quest to create the perfect American president. They attempt to do so by reviving and studying every president from Washington to Eisenhower, all of whom have strangely returned with supernatural abilities. Plans are abruptly halted when a beastly Andrew Jackson goes rogue, resulting in a massacre. To preserve their mission and themselves, surviving researchers must trust none other than their undead executives to save the day.”

Basically, the presidents get superpowers and there are… rather terrible consequences to that <3

Their abilities are based on their legacies, regardless of whether they’re seen positively or negatively. For example, Calvin Coolidge is a telepath since he didn’t really speak much IRL. Polk can create pocket dimensions (Polket dimensions…) due to his heavy association with expansionism. FDR can control technology due to him being the first president to really utilize the potential of radio and TV. Etc, etc!

I’m hoping that if this is ever made into an actual series, it would be around 3 seasons long. Season 1 would be pretty fluffy and comedic, introducing the audience to the lab, the presidents’ powers (also known as “Manifests”). Season 2 is more of a campy slasher, as we follow the cast trying to survive Jackson’s attacks… and season 3 veers into existential horror as the truth behind the resurrection process and the lab’s history is revealed!

Most of the story explores themes of morality, historical revisionism, American identity and unity, scientific ethics, and mental illness. Because of this, I think it’ll likely be rated TV-MA and I’ll be putting appropriate content warnings whenever I post material about the series.
