Remember when the Teapot Dome Scandal in the 1920s was considered the biggest scandalous stain on the presidency in all of American history until Watergate? Something so unbelievably massive and vile that it demoted the USA in the eyes of every other country in the world? Something so terrible, so absolutely horrendous and downright evil, that it became the only thing that Warren G. Harding, the 23rd president of the United States of America is remembered for?

If you dont know, would you like to guess what it was?

No, it's even less offensive than whatever you're thinking.

In April of 1922, interior secretary Albert Fall got caught accepting bribes.

He even lost his job and went to jail for a year because of it! Imagine that!

That's it. That's literally all it was.

And however bad you think those bribes could have been, they weren't. The bribes came from corrupt oil companies to simply give them leases on certain petroleum reserves, instead of going through a bidding process with 3 or 4 other just as corrupt oil companies, that the companies that bribed Fall probably would have won anyway.
