Queen Rain Shine in my Exileverse MLP AU! Kirin are so cool…I based their appearance in my Exileverse AU more closely to those found in the Qing dynasty 🙂‍↕️

Queen Rain Shine is the Goddess of Justice and ruler of the easternmost land in Equestria, Xianxia (named after the Chinese fantasy genre). She is a passionate and benevolent leader with a fiery temper. As a result of Rain Shine’s leadership, Xianxia is deeply principled; respect for all living beings is the foundation of its culture, and justice is upheld for even the smallest insect. Magic, art, and nature are paramount in Xianxia, and many travel there to experience its wonders.

The alliance of Kirin and Dragons have caused a deep rift between Kirin and ponies; Queen Celestia and Queen Rain Shine’s fierce rivalry is known throughout the lands. Rain Shine sees her as a despot using laws to restrain her citizens from rising to power; Celestia sees her as a hotheaded hippie without control over her citizens.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do the different alliances look like in the world of Exileverse? What I mean is, I saw that the Kirins and Dragons are more closely allied than the Ponies and Dragons, from what’s said on Queen Rain Shine’s post, and I assume the Ponies and Griffons are somewhat allied, with the Lunar Guard being a thing. I’m just curious what the different relationships between the different species look like, lol.

No problem at all, and this is a great question!

I'll try to outline the major alliances below, but forgive me if I forget any of them lol:

Qilin and Dragons: Ancestral alliance

Qilin and Deer: Cultural alliance based on nature and pacifism

Pegasi and Griffons: Martial alliance against the Dragons

Earth Ponies, Donkeys, Cows, and Buffalo: Cultural & trade alliance

The Crystal Empire and Yaks: Martial alliance against the Umbrum

Zebras, Abada, and Giraffes: Cultural & trade alliance

Cat-sith (Abyssinians) and Unicorns: Cultural alliance based on magic

Cat-sith and Breezies: Ancestral alliance based on fae heritage

For context, here are some species with long-term blood between them:

Pegasi v. Dragons

Griffons v. Dragons

Crystal Empire v. Umbrum

Changelings v. Ponies

Dragons v. Ponies

Gwyllgi (Diamond Dogs) v. Cat-sith

From what I'm getting, hardly anyone really likes Celestia. Least outside of her territory. I could see dragons blaming her for them being forced to eat gemstones.

Has anyone ever, out of anger, compared Celestia to her father? (If I remember, Storm King was her father right?) Does Celestia show remorse to the dragons who are getting sick from gemstones?

Yeaaaah Celestia is pretty unpopular, outside of her kingdom. She's cold, paranoid, a hypocrite...her HR team (aka Moondancer) works around the clock to keep her looking like a proper, benevolent deity for her citizens.

If she weren't so astronomically powerful and did such a great job at controlling the sun, she would have been overthrown long ago. No one would dare compare her to her father to her face, but many creatures think it to themselves. Something something the cycle continues...

She sees the dragons' suffering as a necessary evil to maintain peace...she's a big fan of necessary evils LOL

Does everyone know that sunset is the “daughter” of Celestia or is it only known by a few (ex. the mane 6 and who sunset chooses to tell) or is it a total state secret/sunset doesn’t tell anybody?

Everyone knows! Sunset Shimmer's 'birth' was celebrated throughout the land...but unfortunately, this also means everyone knows she 'went missing' and it's quite the stain on Celestia's pristine record of rule.

in exileverse, are there any animals that aren't functionally sapient? like, could dragons eat any meat without it being amoral?

Unfortunately, thanks to the *~*~magic of Equestria*~*, all living beings are sentient to some degree, even some trees/plants! So, there isn't currently an 'ethical' way to consume meat; of course, the 'ethics' of being a carnivore depends on the species. Some species (like dragons, until recently) prioritize their health and enjoyment of food over morality.

How does "magical heresy" work in exileverse? Was Flim and Flam's sister supposedly using magic in a way it's not supposed to be used?

Yes! A magical heretic would be someone who violates the Laws of Magic (using magic on the body, using magic to harm, using magic on the mind). The Flim Flam Brothers accused their sister of using magic on her mind to make herself more intelligent.

I have a question regarding pony x non-pony hybrids in your exilverse au.

Are there any species that can’t have children with ponies?

I mainly want to know because I was wondering what my mlp ocs would be like in the exilverse and one of them is a pony/changeling hybrid.

Hmm, I haven't actually given much thought to hybrids in the Exileverse AU aside from ponies/dragons like Fluttershy...

Zebras, donkies, yaks, hippogriffs, buffalo, and kirin are all considered 'equines' in this world so they're all able to have offspring with ponies. The rule is if it has hooves, it can probably have offspring with a pony. Umbrum, thanks to sharing a common ancestor, can also have hybrid children with ponies (Flurry Heart...)!

I think griffon x pony hybrids and dragon x pony hybrids are possible but exclusively with pegasus (or Alicorn) parents. Something something wings ...

Changelings are much more buggy and horror-y in this AU, so I think they probably can't have children with ponies... although they can transform ponies into changelings.

Jumping off of another question, how do the other rulers feel about Luna? How does Celestia feel about her sister?

(Either before or after Luna's return. Or both!)

Parabola LOVED Luna; she thought she was very sweet and was deeply hurt when she was destroyed

Luna was very intimidated by Rain Shine, who didn't pay her much attention

Celestia has always been VERY protective over her sister, thinking her too anxious and shy to do anything for herself. It came from a good place but was stifling

Once she meets Ember, Luna is quite intimidated by her too lol. Ember thinks she's a bit of a wimp
