The Sun Through the Signs

Aries Sun: The purpose of an Aries is to discover how to identify and define him/herself. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, so people born with the Sun in Aries immediately volunteer to take on challenges first. They see the world through the eyes of a child and are drawn to new adventures, new information, and new sensations. At the same time, they tend to lack the innate emotion, knowledge and wisdom that comes with age and experience. This limitation is useful though because Aries is able to offer fresh perspectives on everything; they have no problem asserting themselves and what they want. They are pioneering, impulsive, and full of energy. Like the initial burst of a lit match, their flame is sudden and strong; but at the same time they often lack the stamina to stay lit. For this reason, Aries tend to lose interest and attention in things rather quickly. Taurus Sun: The purpose of a Taurus is to discover how to secure him/herself. Taurus is the sign of possessions. They tend to define themselves by what they possess and what they have. Taurus is extremely patient, and most of all they desire security. A very sensual sign, Taurus is very responsive to the sense of touch. They prefer a slow, dogged, practical, persistent approach to life rather than quick, spontaneous, abstract, inconsistent living. Taurus is a traditionalist, the sign of the tried and true. They are reluctant to venture beyond their comfort zone and have difficulty with change. This however makes them incredibly reliable. They are at most times calm, but when aroused, their temper is much like a charging bull and all should be fearful to get in their way. They are fond of art and beauty, and often have grand artistic opinions. They are incredibly romantic; in a candlelight meal, relaxed in the comfort on their own home kind of way. Gemini Sun: The purpose of a Gemini is to discover a path of communication. Gemini has the advantage of being able to look at angle of a situation. Perspective is their gift, always talking about another way to look at things. Very loquacious and well-representing the element of air, they have a wealth of information to share with others; and often by way of humor. They are intensely curious and often take in information at unprecedented rates. They are quick-witted and extremely clever, but often fickle and restless. They are the twins, duplicitous, and may come off as wildly inconsistent or even two-faced. They see things in many different lights, but have trouble committing to one line of sight. They are youthful and light-hearted, and tend not to take things too seriously because there is always something else to think about. At the same time, they are very adaptable and offer imaginative solutions to unsolvable puzzles. Cancer Sun: The purpose of a Cancer is to discover their own sense of home and family. Cancer is the sign of motherhood; and as such, it is natural for a Cancer to be protective, defensive, and comforting to those they love. They are excellent providers of emotional nourishment. Cancer is also traditional in the sense that they are tied to the past. With their storehouse memory, they enjoy reminiscing and looking to their childhood. They can be tenacious and strong-willed. However, they tend to be fearful when their own sensitivity is threatened; and as a result, they retreat into a shell – a "defense mode" - and remain virtually inaccessible to anyone, including themselves. They are the sign of the Ocean, and this is reflected in their sudden mood shifts, much like high and low tide. Highly intuitive, Cancers are very sympathetic and compassionate towards others, especially when it comes to family. Leo Sun: The purpose of a Leo is to be creative, brave, and to shed light on everything! Leo is the sign of the Sun, so it is not surprising for them to believe they are the center of the world. They are dynamic, powerful, proud, expressive people who are willing to step up and entertain anyone at any cost. The degree to which these people are able to express themselves is outstanding. They are natural born leaders because of their exuding self-confidence. They have a tendency to be a bit dramatic, which can come off to others as arrogance. However, Leos are extremely generous people and enjoy all pleasures, including the pleasures of others – particularly if they are providing it. They are intensely loyal and very proud people, and they can be a bit self-involved, autocratic, and lazy; much like the personality of a Lion. Virgo Sun: The purpose of a Virgo is to be exact, examine the details of situations, and serve others by fixing problems. Because of their vigorous attention detail, they can be very critical of both themselves and others. They are industrious and have an incredible work ethic. Virgos tend to be very organized and methodical. Their minds are ever-active and are often on overdrive, so efficient sorting, annotated lists, and practical scheduling work best for managing responsibilities. This can also lead to misplaced criticism and/or obsessive compulsive tendencies. Virgos worry often and remain skeptical until they have analyzed a position clearly. Virgo is associated with health and physical well being. They are so concerned with the inner workings of things that making sure their own body runs efficient is of great importance. They are logical and can easily provide solutions to complex problems. They are grounded, dislike abstract thinking, and, more often than not, rely on objectivity for communicating. Libra Sun: The purpose of a Libra is create harmony, produce fairness, and find balance to relate and commune with others. Libras are the socialites of the zodiac. The sign of fashion, they take care to look stunning at all times. Their innate sense of color and aesthetic form gives them an eye for art; and their balanced sense for harmony gives them an ear for the best music. Their interpersonal disposition and drive for parity often, however, creates a desire for so much that they become indecisive and have difficulty making a decision on their own. Being the sign of partnership, Libras also have a hard time being alone. They also avoid conflict and will avoid confrontation if they fall short of diplomacy in a situation. Libras are classy, stylish, and have refined taste. They may appear vain and gossipy, but make excellent companions and favor cooperation over adversarial action. Intensely loyal and deeply passionate, they can become easily jealous, stubborn, and self-destructive if they feel slighted; like a scorpion, preferring to kill itself rather than be killed. They are very perceptive; discovering the veiled secrets of others and mysteries of the world comes easy for them. Scorpios have a penetrating, almost overbearing, gaze that makes others feel as though they are staring into their soul. They are extremely emotional and sensitive, often turning insignificant matters into huge issues. Lucky and optimistic, Sagittarius is the explorer of the Zodiac.. To fuel their desire for expansion, they are keenly interested in foreign cultures and dense philosophies; although, they are quick to move from one subject to the next without blinking. The grass is always greener on the other side for them. They are constantly moving, both physically and intellectually. They are associated with nature (identifying with the quality of being a large force of endless energy and change); and they love animals. Natural teachers and orators, they offer insightful wisdom, but speak quickly without giving thought to their words. They seek truth by being broad-minded and curious. Capricorn Sun: The purpose of a Capricorn is to organize and execute life as one big project. Capricorns are systematic, persistent, diligent people with the greatest drive in all the zodiac. They are dedicated to their goals, paramount of which is to rise to the top of the mountain. They are indeed the social climbers and businesspeople of the Zodiac, and you will find Capricorns wherever there is opportunity. They are able to visualize their realistic ambitions very well, and this makes it easy for them to be able to pursue practically what they want in this world. However, they sometimes lack the ability to relate to people on an emotional level. They can be unforgiving of people less ambitious; and may disregard individual sensitivity in their pursuit of prestige and success. They are hard-workers that employ common sense and pragmatism to fuel their determination. Capricorns shy away from emotions and hold duty and responsibility in high virtue. Aquarius Sun: The purpose of an Aquarius is different for every Aquarius, but always to act for the greater good. They are the radical individuals of the Zodiac, showering the world with progressive revolutionary ideas to make the world a better place. They are the monkey wrench that breaks down stale order in attempt to introduce inventive solutions. Aquarius is often quirky, eccentric, and original; they dislike being pigeon-holed into a label. They are unique individuals whom take great pride in not bending to the will of others. On the other hand, they are philanthropic and have many friends. They are interested in the big picture of things, and represent the social conscious of the new millennium (Age of Aquarius). This tendency often causes them to neglect individual concerns and may present them as impersonal and cold. They are often associated with the future, ahead of trends before everyone else; and that is why most Aquarius' seem strange and unconventional - because they are trailblazers. Pisces Sun: The purpose of a Pisces is to empathize with hidden energies of the Universe and to offer compassion for others in need. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, and they are often referred to as "old souls" because their energies have worked their way through all the other signs. Pisces are the martyrs of the Zodiac; and too often they willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. For this reason, they are often taken advantage of by more controlling signs. They are extremely sensitive and have difficulty discerning fact from fantasy. Pisces are escapists and dread confrontation with reality. This anxiety and self-promoted melancholy may cause them to fall prey to a number of addictions. They are dreamers with highly evolved intuition and involuntary empathy. They define existence by feelings, their own and others. So moved by the energy around them, they adapt and change to more dominant forces, much like a chameleon adapting to its surroundings. Of all the signs, they are the most spiritual and have little difficulty with uncertainty.
