40 + Poker Pair (because I need those idiots in my life)
Here you go! These two are not my forte, but I hope I did well. And since I was in a mood for wacky AUs, have one in which Tyki is a bum and Allen is 219% done with him XDD
(Meme: send me a prompt and I’ll write you a drabble)
Tyki was inthe middle of a very bizarre dream. He was floating up above brilliant whitebuildings, lifted up into the clear sky by a huge pink umbrella. He glidedthrough the air, twirling gently and relishing in the freedom of the flight –and then, the umbrella yanked his arm and nose-dived into the void.
“It’s youagain,” the umbrella sighed. “I should have guessed.”
His arm wasyanked again and Tyki grunted, torn out of sleep for good. Reluctantly, heraised the rim of his hat and opened one eye. It came to rest on a neat blackuniform with a silver nametag. Allen.Ah, his favourite.
“Goodmorning, officer,” Tyki yawned, rubbing his eyes and smiling up at thewhite-haired youth hovering over him.
“Goodafternoon,” the security guard corrected, his arms crossed on his chest. “Areyou comfortable?”
“Yes,quite, thank you.” Tyki stretched out and sat up, rubbing his stiffened neck andlooking out through the display window. The mall was busy, so indeed it musthave been past noon already. Did he really sleep this long?
“So, wemeet again,” Tyki remarked, still not moving from the sofa in the display. “Boy,we sure bump into each other a lot lately. I’m inclined to say something’spushing us together.”
“Yes; thatwould be my job.” Allen nodded. “And your uncanny tendency to nap on theexposition during my shift. If you are not a client, I will need you to vacatethe premises. Sir,” he added with effort.
Tyki wavedhis hand.
“No needfor such pleasantries. We’re old pals, after all. Give me a minute and I’ll beout of here,” he said and pulled the hat deeper on his face, turning it aroundwhen the security tag poked him in the nose. Allen sighed.
“Is thisyour hat?”
“Well, I’mwearing it.”
“I’ll needto see the receipt for it, please.” Allen held out his hand expectantly. Tykirolled his eyes under the cover and sat up again, making a show of checking hispockets. The jacket came up empty, so did the trousers and the breast pocket ofhis shirt.
“It wouldappear I don’t have it.” Tyki shrugged, baring his teeth in a mockery of anapologetic grin. He could see Allen’s fist clenching, but the guard just sighedagain and rubbed his temple.
“You’llhave to come with me now. I have to notify the police and you will have to waitfor them in the security room,” he rattled off the sequence they both knew alltoo well, and Tyki couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes once more. “Areyou going to—“
“Yes, I’mgoing to come willingly and you do not need to use force,” he cut in, finallygetting up from the sofa. “Have you ever needed to? I’m just curious. How didthey make you a security guard? I could probably take you in a fight, you know. And that was an observation, not athreat,” he added quickly, eyeing the stun gun on Allen’s hip.
“They mademe a security guard because I’m good,”Allen answered bluntly, leading Tyki out of the furniture shop, across the mainhall and down the narrow side staircase. Tyki matched his stride easily andcouldn’t help bouncing a little on the steps as they descended. True, he was atad disappointed he allowed himself to get caught, but that’s life for you. He’ll do better next time. There was always a next time.
Allenopened the door at the bottom of the staircase and they found themselves in asmall room with not much besides a desk, three chairs and a few CCTV screens.
“Oh, didyou guys have a paint job lately?” Tyki looked around the sickly green walls. “Idon’t remember that colour. And aww, boy, they took my favourite chair! Why didyou let them take it?”
“Just sitdown, Mikk.”
Tyki satdown under the cautious glance of his guard, who quickly made a short phone call andleaned against the wall, not taking eyes off him even for a moment.
“The policewill be here in a while,” Allen said, and Tyki could guess from the tired tonein his voice that it was going to be a really long while. It usually ended thatway. Insignificant social noxiousness, they called it. Figures.
“Looks likewe’ve got a lot of time on our hands.” Tyki crossed his arms behind his headand longued on the hard wooden chair. “Hey, why the long face? You got me,right? Don’t you get a bonus for things like that? You should be happy.”
“No bonuswill make up for having to bear with you.” Allen folded his arms, stillpiercing him with a steel gaze. Tyki chuckled.
“Come on, Icould expect you’d get used to it by now. How many times has it been already?”
“It’s the seventhtime this month. But you still haven’t beaten your record of twelve fromJanuary.”
“Ah, yes, Iremember. Boy, was it cold then.” Tyki shivered. “But you shouldn’t count thattime with the sushi shop. You didn’t catch me, after all.”
“You pulledthat twice, and I did catch you onetime.”
“Really? You sure have good memory. And here I was thinking I’m never on your mind.” Tykismiled to himself and fished out a packet of cigarettes. He pulled one out withhis teeth, but before he found his lighter, Allen leaned forward and snatchedthe cigarette from his mouth.
“You can’tsmoke here, you know. I could expect you’d get used to it by now.”
Tykiblinked a few times with a blank expression, but in a moment the smile was backon his lips.
“Come on,boy, make an exception for a regular.”
“No chancein hell.” Allen twirled the unlit cigarette in his fingers, looking over at himwith suspicion. “Did you steal these, too?”
“How rude.”Tyki shook his head. “If you have to know, I bought them. With the money Irightfully won in an honest game.”
“An honestgame of counting cards, no doubt.” Allen smirked. “So you still play, then?Even after all those times I beat you clear to your underpants? You neverlearn, do you.”
“On thecontrary, I find our little matches very edifying indeed. But more importantly, you’re looking positively chipper all of a sudden. Have I entered an alternateuniverse, or did you really just crack a smile for me?”
“Don’t makeme tase you.”
“All right, all right.” Tyki raised his hands in a placating gesture. “But seeing as there’sstill some time to kill, how about we have a game or two? Don’t worry, I’m notgonna bet you to let me go. So, what will it be?”
Allencracked his knuckles, his smile growing wider.
Don't know if you'll like these, but have two songs I like most currently: C2C, Delta (my get-shit-done song); and Damon Albarn's Everyday Robots (sort-of commuting/late night working song).
Thanks ❤ I love both of those, especially Damon Albarn's one, it's awesome!
Yes, you should definitely watch Samurai Champloo - it's gorgeously animated, incredibly funny and the action scenes are just mind-blowing. *excited bouncing*
