EXO and the CUBE •

There are multiple times we see the symbolism of the Cube in Exo's mvs. Things you (maybe) didn't notice:-

-We find it first appears as a box given to Kyungsoo in Overdose intro (Overdose theory!) as they are trapped in a maze. He sees a vision and empties the sand in it.

-A surprising link I found was in Obsession's concept photos. (Obsession Theory!) I noticed that Baek and Suho stand in and out of a cube literally made of glass & light:

-Tempo is wholly based on this cube and SM further makes things complicated for EXO-Ls 👻. Notice the white text at the bottom of this teaser image:

They solve the puzzles in different rooms which are in the bigger "cube": Jongdae+Chanyeol📝, Ksoo+Xiu♟️, Kai🎹 / Sehun🥂 / Jongdae in the bar, Baek+Suho💡 in the room with a bed (another cube imagery!)

The image below clears all doubts that the 🟥 is nothing but the maze we see in Overdose and Lucky one. (Lucky One theory!)

Another smaller red cube is seen at the very centre of the maze. I'll talk more about this in a different post dedicated to Tempo.

-Notice how the logo of EXODUS (theory) - 2nd album is awfully similar to the Necker cube which appears in Don't Mess Up My Tempo Album:

EXO Theory Pt. 15 - Hear Me Out

New MV, more lore.

We begin this MV with Kyungsoo waking up and slamming his alarm clock at exactly 10:45 and falling from out of bed.

This probably wouldn’t be significant if we didn’t see the exact same scene with Chanyeol later in the video.

My first thought when I saw this was that I can relate this back to my theory of EXO being tested. Hear me out :P

After Kyungsoo wakes up he walks out of his room into the living area space and we see Kai, Baekhyun, Suho and Xiumin asleep - almost looking passed out.

Back in part 2 of my theory I wrote about how the vast majority of EXO’s MVs seemed to be set in another plane of reality, think Inception, or a parallel universe and this is signified to us often through this imagery of the members sleeping. Again, we get this a few times in this MV. But, more interestingly, the first member in this MV we see awake is Kyungsoo - who I’ve often claimed was the first member to ‘wake’ from the dream the Red Force has put them in and has been aware of the testing they’ve been put through for the longest time. 

Anyway, when we see Kyungsoo awaken and fall out of bed and come into the room to find his other members asleep he lights some incense which seems to be the trigger to begin the events of that day, starting with Sehun building with Lego.

It’s quite hard to see in Sehun’s scene but in a later scene with Chen we can see the buildings a little clearer that Sehun is building - I’m definitely seeing a London skyline and the Berlin Radio Tower so I like to think it's somehow connected to the Pathcode teasers,

Day one of the MV (which I’m calling Kyungsoo’s day) continues with the members mostly cleaning and relaxing until there is a time jump to the end of the day when Suho brings doughnuts.

The members then play games together and the day ends when Chen looks at the camera and says ‘You know I don’t play games’ which is funny but may also be a hint to the Red Forces/whomever he is talking to that the day is not right and so then they start again with Chanyeol waking up.

However, this is a lie. In the Parallel Universe teaser we very clearly see Chen playing a game with Kai.

Personally, I think this Hear Me Out universe is the same as the Parallel Universe one - or at least, it’s one of EXO’s parallel universes in a similar vein. Many people have made this connection - much of the styling and look of the two concepts are very similar. But the other reason I think these are connected is because the ‘partners’ in this above image continue into the Hear Me Out MV in the final scene with the car in the field.

I’ll come back to that in a bit, but back to Chen. The reason I think Chen is lying is because, after Let Me In or some time before it, we’ve seen Chen switch back to being on the side of EXO rather than the spy for the Red Force. I always believed Chen was the spy through manipulation on the Red Force’s side more than any benevolence from Chen, but since his interaction with Xiumin in Let Me In he’s realised what he’s done and is now purposefully using his sway with the Red Force to take control of this testing.

Anyway, after Chen says he doesn’t play games, the day resets at 10:45 with Chanyeol, and many of the events of the day are similar but focused on other members. I do like the continuation of this circle imagery from both days though:

It really reminds me of some of the imagery in KoKoBop and points to the repeating nature of the MVs and the days (also why the washing machine again lol?)

On Chanyeol’s day the boys are waiting for a bowling game to load, but it seems to be taking a long time and so they are distracted on their phones. 

We then see Suho notice the clock and time reversing quickly again, and then they seem to be transported to bowling irl.

Or do they get transported? Not long after this we see an image of Xiumin lying on the couch with his phone next to him playing a video of himself.

So, as we see Xiumin sleeping whilst also being in the bowling alley with Sehun and Baekhyun on his phone, we can assume that the bowling alley area is actually another dream plane within the dream plane - one again very Inception like.

One of the kind of interesting things about the bowling scene is that there seems to be an attempt to split the 8 members into two groups. There’s a little scene where you can see D.O, Kai, Sehun and Baekhyun in one lane and Suho, Xiumin in the other - assuming Chanyeol and Chen are in their lane as well means that you have two teams, perhaps competing with each other as they tend to test members 1v1 like that as shown in Romantic Universe, and yet the members are all cheering for each other regardless of team - perhaps following on from Let Me In where the members realised that to succeed against the Red Force they need to always work together.

Speaking of Romantic Universe, one of the fun parallels is the test between Chanyeol and Kyungsoo and comparing it to this MV.

In Romantic Universe, we first see Kyungsoo get tested at the ATM and fail and then Chanyeol comes along and clears the mission immediately. I think it’s interesting we’re getting a mirror of that in this MV where Kyungsoo begins the first day and the day fails and we then get Chanyeol start the day and the day should be a success if we compare to Romantic Universe.

However, as the bowling mission may be a success in the bowling reality, simultaneously, back in the living area where Xiumin sleeps, we see Chen walking to the kitchen and notices a phone moving forward in time very quickly.

The phone lies on the Lego Sehun was building the day before and along with Xiumin’s controller next to him in the scene with him snoozing next to his phone I’m going to say that this scene is actually taking place on Kyungsoo’s day rather than Chanyeol’s, and in fact both these days are taking place at the same time, rather than the bowling being a separate day.

I think the phone then explodes because, as in Romantic Universe, Chanyeol’s day was a success, but not in the way that the Red Forces expected or wanted. Instead, the EXO members by not succumbing to the Red Forces plan to split them up actually supported each other and worked together and temporarily set the RF back. Hence kaboom.

Because the EXO members have succeeded in their endeavour, we then see EXO outside washing a car, happy and relaxing - seemingly having escaped from the groundhog days, and remember what I said earlier about the partners/groups from Parallel Universe being important - this is where we see them temporarily reunite.

If you see in this teaser, Kai and Chen are playing a game; Xiumin and Kyungsoo are building a jenga tower (very similar to the one in Tempo that becomes the cube); Baekhyun plays with the globe and Sehun with a ball; Chanyeol’s drowsily looking into a cup and Suho’s stood alone reading.

Here we see Kai and Chen relaxing and talking together.

Baekhyun and Sehun sleep in the car, with Baekhyun in the driver’s seat holding onto the steering wheel. Chanyeol is also asleep in the backseat but we can’t see his face.

Suho alone by the car where the other three members are snoozing.

And Xiumin playing catch with Kyungsoo. The reason I bring attention to this is because I do think this Universe is set with the same members as from the Parallel Universe world rather than the ones from Let Me In or whatever. It’s really hard to explain concisely but so much of EXO’s storyline only makes sense to me if you forget linear time exists completely. We first got introduced to Parallel Universe during the Power promotions, and in the Power opening narration - if Hear Me Out is in the Parallel Universe and Let Me In I suggested was set with some reference with that opening narration too then it would make sense that the next MV could have some reference to something in that as well - maybe the continuation of Baekhyun falling to the water at the end of Power?

Anyway, we end the MV with Baekhyun this time as well. Baekhyun is sleeping in his car and gets awoken by a new alarm clock that is also stops at 10:45.

Will EXO truly ever be free from the Red Forces and their testing? At this point it’s almost seeming like a no, but maybe we’ll get to see Baekhyun’s day at some point.

There are so many other references in this MV but I could not fit them all in tbh. Definitely think it’s linked to Romantic Universe, KoKoBop, Love Me Right, Sing For You and the Pathcodes though!

DFTF & the gist of everything; a theory

(warning: long post, no cut)

*cracks knuckles* OKAY. so i’m about to give my two cents on the theories surrounding the comeback but this is gonna be a long one so strap in and enjoy the ride i guess??

but before i get started on the DFTF stuff i just want to do a bit of recap on the members’ powers and their counterparts back in mama era (yes i’m going all the way back bear with me). from the beginning, we are shown that each member has a special power and those from exo-k have a counterpart in exo-m and the pairings went like this:

xiumin (frost) - suho (water manipulation)

luhan (telekinesis) - kai (teleportation)

kris (dragon’s flight) - chanyeol (phoenix’s fire)

lay (healing) - baekhyun (light)

chen (lightning) - kyungsoo (enhanced strength/earth?)

tao (time control) - sehun (wind manipulation)

i think these parings are fine but for me a couple of changes could have been made to make more sense to their powers. in my opinion, i think it should be:

xiumin - suho

luhan - sehun

kris - chanyeol

lay - baekhyun

chen - kyungsoo

tao - kai

obviously, xiumin/suho make sense bc their powers are related to each other where suho’s is the foundation of xiumin’s more refined control of the element. kris/chanyeol also makes sense for the same reason. for lay/baekhyun, healing powers can reconstruct damages from wounds and even bring dying flowers (maybe even people) back to their full health. basically, lay restores a living thing’s energy. but light is a form of energy too. flowers need light to survive and so does the rest of the planet for that matter. but i think baekhyun uses that light to be able to concentrate the energy into his hands to form a beam powerful enough to blast anything in its path (who are u? tony stark??). 

tbh, i’m still kind of unclear about ksoo’s power on whether he can actually manipulate earth (like an earthbender) or if he has enhanced strength. either way, he can shake the earth and obviously he’s more powerful on the ground. with lightning, it can travel three ways: cloud to cloud, cloud to air, and cloud to the ground. you can think of their powers as being related by how the fissures in earthquakes are similar to the patterns of lightning. kyungsoo causes the rumbling in the earth, while chen causes rumbling (thunder) in the sky (hence why they are parallels of each other in mama mv)

for those i think should be switched, we’ll start with luhan/sehun. sehun has the power of wind but throughout the history of their powers i don’t think we’ve actually seen him have full control of his ability? in mama, he’s in the desert (this is gonna come up again later!!) with a raging tornado behind him. i mean, i guess he could be doing that intentionally but for the sake of this entry i’m going to assume he can summon the wind but he can’t fully control it. meanwhile, luhan can easily manipulate objects and we could think of this as him just actually manipulating the air around that object. luhan’s control of the air is more stable whilst sehun’s is the opposite. 

for tao/kai i think it makes more sense for them to be counterparts since kai travels through space and while tao’s power is to stop/start time, he has the to potential to travel through time as well. these two go hand in hand because if they’re together, they’d be even stronger as traveling through time could be faulty since the time you might want to go back or forward to isn’t going to be in the same exact location as you are now. 

BUT WAIT! we’re left with 9 members so what happens now?? 

i actually made a “theory” about exo having new counterparts back in 2016 but i’m scrapping the main idea from it and will just be referring to particular points going forward. so for now, let’s go with the assumption that their counterparts are as they are in my version. this means that sehun, chanyeol, and kai no longer have their counterparts. now what?

let’s first make two assumptions: 

their powers become stronger when they are with their counterparts: like i’ve mentioned above, they’re stronger together than they are apart. but additionally, it’s a bit safer for them to be separated since they are much more easily located by the red force if they are all in one place.

if one loses their counterpart (i mean for good and not just separated by distance) then eventually, the power of the one who was lost will manifest itself in the one who is left

for (2), it would make sense then as to why in sehun’s pathcode teaser, he finds the toys floating in mid-air. at this point, he’s unaware that he’s actually the one doing this. (@raven-rin​ points out the similarities between luhan’s scene in mama with the orbs and sehun’s “planet” in the DFTF teaser photo which supports my theory that they are connected in this way). 

in chanyeol’s pathcode teaser, he seems to have lost some control of his power whereas in mama mv, he was able to keep a small flame in his hand under control. 

for kai, we’ve mainly see him teleporting on earth and he’s had quite a good control on his power since the beginning. but i think now, with tao’s power manifesting itself in him, he’s now able to teleport beyond just earth. we can take his mmmh mv for example too where he’s teleporting between worlds and currently, his power symbol is that of a hexagon with a keyhole in the center; he is the door between worlds and the main connection between the others. 

SO THE POINT TO ALL THIS IS there was a theory posted by @vampwrrr​ and pointed out by @loeyarc on twitter about how the members are not in their own planets but they actually landed in someone else’s. i think this could be true since xiumin is in a planet with aurora’s (baekhyun’s planet), kyungsoo is in a red planet that could possibly be chanyeol’s. kai’s might be in kyungsoo’s and baekhyun’s in a planet where there’s ice which could mean he’s in xiumin’s planet. i’m not sure about the power swapping (tho i absolutely love the idea) but i think they might have just landed in planets they were closest to. 

but i want to point out how chanyeol is in a planet that looks like a desert 

now, this could actually be sehun’s planet in parallel to where he was in mama. sehun, on the other hand, is actually in luhan’s planet (going back to the reference @raven-rin​ made). 

i think here, he’ll finally realize why his powers have been glitching (from pathcode) and how he now has the ability to move objects like luhan did (disclaimer 1: since not all members are present for this comeback, who’s to say they can only land in the planets of the active members’ planets??. disclaimer 2: not saying luhan is still member, he clearly isn’t. i meant for members who are enl*sted. for all we know, one or two of those planets could be chen’s or lay’s, etc.)

idk if DFTF is a pre-quel to power or a follow up but *if* the latter was the case, then the end of power makes sense. throughout the mv, we see suho, xiumin, kai, chen, chanyeol, sehun, and kyungsoo fighting the giant red force robot in possibly a different planet (i’m thinking the exos actually banded together to track down the red force themselves to get their powers back and in every planet they encounter these RF bots who keep destroying the planets they occupy) but for most it, baekhyun isn’t there fighting with them. he does show up near the end which confirms that he’s in the same place as the others but why isn’t he fighting?

let’s recall that their powers are stronger when they’re with their counterparts. if we go by the theory from lucky one that some members lost their powers, then it makes sense why none of them were able to fight off the bot with their powers alone (which they regained by defeating it in the end). i do think they are still strong at this point but their powers are weak. as for baekhyun, his counterpart is far away. lay hasn’t really been with them since monster era so he was probably playing it safe by not actively fighting alongside the others. (if he’s powerless and separated from lay then he’s the most vulnerable compared to the others)

at the end of power, we see baekhyun falling into the water/ocean. how did this happen? if exo left the planet they were in in power, it’s possible that after defeating the bot, it triggered the red force of their location. the red force then proceeds to destroy that planet in an attempt to kill exo once and for all

(disclaimer 3: screencap is meant to show an example, not that this is exactly in the same timeline as power)

but the exos manage to escape in their ship in time but their ship malfunctions (could be hit by debris from the planet’s explosion) and they have no choice but to leave the ship. i think their ship has “escape pods” meant for each one of them as a way to escape safely in case of an emergency. but let’s say these pods will immediately head for the planet they were set to (again, kind of like a safety protocol type thing where they get sent to different locations to avoid detection from the red force). to add, say that in the chaos, the exos just went into whatever pod they got to first which is how they end up landing in different planets. 

maybe something happens to baekhyun’s pod and he has to manually eject himself from it. but we see he lands in the middle of an ocean 

and in his DFTF photo teaser, we see he’s in a planet with ice caps and water

you still with me? i’m about to tie everything together and finish i promise!

remember the second assumption we made? “the power of the one who was lost will manifest itself in the one who is left”. what if the red force know this? what if the reason they’ve been after exo is because of this fact? but if that were the case, where would the powers manifest in if the exos are gone? i know the lot of us skip the intro of mama but it states that an eye of red force “coveted the heart of the tree of life and the heart slowly grew dry” which meant that the tree of life is the source of the twelve force’s powers. 

everything started with the tree of life and in an attempt to save its remaining powers, they split it in half and hid the halves from the red force. the power of the tree of life is what connects exo. but as mentioned, if one is lost, the power will continue to live inside another. if the red force destroys all of exo, the powers they possess will be returned to the tree of life and if the tree of life is whole again, the red force will in no doubt abuse its power and continue their plans from the very beginning. 

then we can say that in lucky one, it was another tactic used by the red force to extract their powers. those extracted powers were then used to create x-exo. since x-exo are under the red force’s orders, if they manage to destroy exo, their powers will undoubtedly go to their x-counterparts. but as the red force control’s x-exo they still have the upper hand once this plan is set in stone. i mention this to get us back on the current timeline seeing as DFTF may be strongly connected to power which precedes obsession. but then again, i’m not even sure about the exact order of the timeline but this is just my theory so it’s just for fun!

ive literally been trying to piece together exo theories for the past hr and im going crazy

of course all of the mvs are linked but i think the 4 big links for this comeback will be love me right, power, overdose, and love shot. HERE IM GOING TO STATE RANDOM STUFF THAT I THINK LINKS TOGETHER. THIS IS NOT A FULLY THOUGHT OUT THEORY.

first of all, just from d.o and xiumin’s teasers we can see they are one what looks like 2 different planets. 

D.o seems to be associated with red and xiumin blue. Do you notice that 3 of those rocks are not lit up? I will come back to that... On these power screenshots you will notice the planet with the cat that looks like xiumin, its blue while the planet with the football helmet is red like d.o. The date is for love me right mv while the cat’s planet date is 1485, the date that appears many times including in the title of their dont fight the feeling spoiler video.

In LMR we see the member that is singled out the most is d.o then suho, xiumin, and kai are also in focus alot. D.O and Suho seem to be the most in distress in this mv as they are both often in red lighting and D.O seems trapped as he screams in the red doorway and looks sadly from the bleachers. 

When Exo is lit up red they look defeated and tired of playing football while they cheer and hug alot in the blue lighting. It’s possible the red is exo being defeated while the blue is x exo celebrating. It’s also important to not that theres a lot of purple scenes in this mv that focus on Lay, Kai, Chanyeol, and Bakehyun. Lay looks tired mostly while Kai seems to have an anger issue, he fights Chanyeol over a game, destroys their tv, and uses his bat to destroy bottles. Near the ending his eye is zoomed into and it becomes red, meaning Kai is likely X-Exo but pretending to be Exo. This correlated with Overdose MV where Kai is the only member that escapes, but he leaves with an evilish grin. I believe he was the 1st Exo member to be switched out with X Exo and the person who helped release him? NONE OTHER THAN D.O

D.o is the person who was given the cube and poured the dirt out, once he did this he stopped Lay from healing the members. He also pours water out of the cube in Love Shot. I believe Love Shot is important because he is seen sitting with Kai in the car with a knowing glare. 

YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE ELSE HE DOES THIS? IN THE LMR JAPANESE ROMANTIC UNIVERSE MV. In this MV it’s clear that we are watching X-Exo training to be like Exo. D.O is the member who keeps failing in this MV. why, if he is the real D.O? because “I can do this all night long baby” He is purposefully failing his missions and we know this because when he plays table tennis he is clearly skilled but he hits the ball into a cupcake anyway. D.O also seems to be the one training Kai on eating normally. 

More proof that he knows Kai is X Kai and possibly the others at this point? 

OK MY HEAD HURTS TOO MUCH RIGHT NOW SO I MIGHT ADD MORE LATER ON WHEN EACH MEMBER SWITCHED WITH X EXO. BUT FROM MY UNDERSTANDING D.O WAS ALWAYS THE SPY AND KAI WAS THE 1ST MEMBER TO BE SWITCHED. (It also seems like Xiumin and Chen are always cooking up plans to rescue them because Lay doesnt have his healing powers? Xiu is seen mixing meds in LMR and in Kokobop, the meds cause d.o to pass out too but IDK)

why people so obsessed with kpop idol group Exo? see the above is one of the reasons because they are bunch of talented idols out there who can also give nice music and performance. But the group who is giving varieties and unpredictable concepts on every comebacks is solely Exo, as far as i know.Everytime Exo announcing comeback, it always makes me so curious of what they gonna bring this time. Making fans jaw drop and left in awe each time with their concept and ideas. Exo a fascination.

exo theory - lighting

so, i posted this first on my twitter, but decided to post it here too, because i think it's really interesting.

on today's teasers, we got baekhyun, kyungsoo and sehun pictures. and as soon as i saw kyungsoo's pics, the lighting used caught my attention.

but first of all, an important thing to know: in cinematic lighting, blue lights can create a gloomy atmosphere, and also express cold, calm, passivity. and green lights can represent corruption, and mostly exudes sickness or evilness.

so, in kyungsoo’s teasers, the color we see the most is green,

while in baekhyun and sehun's teasers, is blue.

(we do see some glimpses of green, but it's more like they're surrounded by it, and not like is a part of them.)

back to kyungsoo, in his second pic, the lighting is half blue, half green. it's important to say that sidelights also creates a sense of mystery.

that being said... who are our friends that really like the green color?

x-exo, of course.

i think it's important to mention that in obsession, the lighting and colors also had an important role in the plot. while the x-exo members were, most of the time, surrounded by red (that can represent danger, anger, violence and power); the exo members were almost always around blue, that, as I mentioned before, represent cold, calm, passivity). it's the fight between the good, and the bad - but we already know that.

so, there's the possibility that this kyungsoo is actually x-kyungsoo. if not, then definitely there's at least something shady about him.

someone on twitter (here's the link: x) mentioned that in EPISODE 02. ONE GIANT LEAP video, all the boys turn their heads on beat with the beeps of the radar, except kyungsoo. there's also a glitching sound before he turns his head, if you pay attention to the video.

i didn't notice how creepy that actually is, until she mentioned it. it's also very suspicious, isn't it?

i think we'll have to wait for more teasers to know if it's all a coincidence or not, but i'm keeping my eyes on him.
