Extraction tips
Things I already knew but I just needed a reminder (made such a difference with extractions!):
The luxator is your friend - luxate and elevate until you can just whip it out with the forceps. Some people luxate with forceps but you’ve got a much higher chance of breaking something. You can put quite a lot of force on the instrument, but just be careful, it must be controlled.
Luxate along the long axis of the tooth as much as you can, although it may be tempting to just get it in as best you can. You’ll expand more of the socket that way.
Make sure you manage the patient’s expectations.
