[ KNOWN ]: a letter which the writer left in a place that only the writer and recipient know of, knowing that only the recipient would be able to find it first.
It is always the same place. The same piece of paper.
But never the same time, and never the same contents. Never the same handwriting.
The one that is found at this time is a dusty paper which threatened to tear at its edges and in the place where the fold has sunk like a wrinkle. The handwriting is heavy and stable, it is the result of a heavy hand that slowly made its way across the paper. Not particularly flourished, not pretty but functional. A type of handwriting which, if one were to drag the paper closer to light might change ever so slightly. Enough for one's eyes to notice, enough for one's mind to question their own conclusions.
While I appreciate the candid words toward my work I must make it clear that the painting you requested is not mine. I am only a conservator, no works of art (be they books or paintings like the one you saw) that come into my sphere are ever mine to claim or sell.
All credits must go first and foremost to the original painter and the subject within.
