I don't know if it was an April's fool, or if you wanted to get back and couldn't, but I surely miss reading your perspective about the characters and how they're developed through the series. Heck, "The Tamers' Journey" is what I use to back some discussion with friends about how well this series was written, and I recommend it more than I should.

It was not an April Fool's joke, I truly, honestly, with all my heart, had every intention of starting Xros Wars on the 24th.

But life made a fool out of me. As often it does. Long story short, I had to get surgery on April 22, and recovery was a bit...stickier than one generally prefers. When I recovered and went back to work, my workplace started regularly giving us overtime shifts that left me completely exhausted. This went on from May to just three weeks ago. And unfortunately, I haven't had the energy to do much of anything, even since then. Beyond the surgery, I don't really have an excuse other than "I'm tired".

Thank you, so much, for sticking with me, and for your nice words about my blog! I am going to get back to it (and I am going to be adding the rebooted Digimon Adventure to the mandate, obviously), just as soon as I clear away some other outstanding projects I have going on in meatspace and elsewhere.

I really hope for a sequel of Tamers or a stand allone series with 0 gimmicks. Just a kid (or a group of them) and their Digimon surviving in the Digital World. Also, havent you thought the possibility for an anime with Daigo's team? Maybe another 6 ovas separated into 4 episodes like they did with Tri, telling the story of how they were chosen, their adventure in the Digital World and the final battle with the Dark Masters.

Ah, yes, a basic Adventure-clone is what all of us truly want. Just something simple and clean (*´_ゝ｀)

A series about Daigo’s group tho… Honestly, I kinda wanna say “no” to that

Whenever you have a story with things that aren’t nececary plotholes but are definitely left up for your imagination, be it things in the past, future, or behind the scenes while the mainstory takes place, people always end up finding their own ideas of what goes into those holes or what happened next. Giving a canon answer always takes away from the fans’ freedom and even ruins our fantasies, our versions of the story. So even if the story was good, it’ll leave some people feeling sad that their headcanons have been “made impossible” by canon

By this point it is somewhat late to try to help people keep their headcanons of the Original 5, but by further stating what should and shouldn’t happen, it’ll take away the fans’ own stories. And that’s why I don’t want to see Maki’s and Daigo’s stories. I kinda prefer leaving it up to my own imagination

Also I’m kinda still bitter about tri.’s retconning of the Original 5′s duty ‘cause in Adventure they were only said to have faught and sealed away Apocalymon so seeing them fight the Masters instead smells retconny and yeah I’m a bit bitter

And I most definitely wouldn’t want to see it in the form of a 6 part OVA ‘cause the movie series format is arguably the greatest mistake made during tri.’s production. Splitting a single story with a 3-Act story structure into six stories, all of which need to have their own 3-Act structure was just a trainwreck. That’s like 3 acts that they had to try and turn into 18 instead. It really hurt tri. and I really don’t want to sit through that again

Hi! I'm the annon from the previous ask. I have some theory here. First we know that Wizardmon was killed by Vamdemon. Then three years later in ZeroTwo, the kids encounter the "ghost" of Wizardmon in the Fuji TV building, that's mostly data that remains in the digital space of the building, Could there be a possibility for Koshiro to gather that data and make him sort of "come back"? Or did the reboot in Tri erased that data taking that opportunity out of our hands?

Personally, I was kind of under the impression that all the data, including that of the Digimon that had died in the Human World, would end up getting reset and restored to the DW after the Reboot, but, let’s go through all the possible scenarios:

(And, for the record, I can’t actually remember how the Reboot works so if I am misremembering then my apologies)

If Wizarmon’s data acts the same way all other Digimon’s data does:

A) Wizarmon has reborn in the DWB) Wizarmon’s data was restored to Witchelny (tri. did take some notes from the Novels so it is possible Wizarmon’s origins are canon)C) Digimon who die in the HW aren’t affected by the Reboot and remain as they are (which is dead, their data scattered across the HW)D) Digimon who die in the HW are affected by the Reboot in the sense that their data does get “reset”, but their data is still stuck in the HWE) Your suggestion; Wizarmon’s data just got erased instead of restored

But here is a question; does Wizarmon’s data act the same way other Digimon’s data does? If Wizarmon’s origin story is canon, this raises an extra alternative:

F) Wizarmon, because he isn’t “fully” a Digimon (or at least a Digimon of the Digital World that was being rebooted), doesn’t get affected by the Reboot and what remains of him is still in the HW

But we also have another question; is that apparition actually Wizarmon? Like, is that his full soul, or just some residual energy left behind? (Like to get an idea go watch an episode of Ghost Adventures and then ask yourself if our “knowledge” of ghosts could apply to (Witchelnian) Digimon, could Digimon “leave behind ghosts” the same way humans “do”?) Because this leaves us with the final(?) scenario:

G) Wizarmon isn’t there anymore, the visions we see of him are indeed, just visions, a ghost, residual energy left behind, and he can’t be brought back to life

There might be some other alternatives to what could’ve happened but those are ones I could think of. Which of them is actually canon will remain a mystery though, probably, unless the 20th Anniversary Project will explain anything or give us a canon answer

Why is that you "might not do" Digimon Universe Appli Monsters? You have to, please T.T

I’m having trouble finding a decent download with English subs, which is kind of the bread and butter of this blog. Also, I’ve learned that the series uses that really choppy-looking CG animation that’s all the rage these days in spite of how incredibly awful and out-of-place it always looks, and that’s....dampening my enthusiasm somewhat.

I’ll probably do it if I can find a download, but for the time being I have to put it in the “Maybe” pile.

So, you been asked what your plot for a Digimon Tamers sequel would be, but what about an entire new Digimon series? Do you have anything on mind?

Oh geez.

When I was 15 I actually started planning a whole series that would have been based on the “original” DigiDestined alluded to at the end of the first series. Of course, because I was 15 and didn’t know how original ideas worked, the central characters would have been Me-with-a-different-name and the-girl-I-liked-(but-didn’t-realize-it-yet-because-I-wasn’t-gay-nope-not-me)-with-a-different-name.

I spent like a week designing and naming Digimon at all their evolution levels, and a considerable amount of time coming up with villains as well, but I never got any of these ideas off the ground. Which, honestly, I sort of regret, because it would have been good practice for me to attempt world-building and long-form fiction at that level. But those notes are lost to time, buried under a thousand other abandoned writing projects.

Nowadays I think I kind of like the Digimon Sliders idea I came up with as a joke while I was liveblogging Adventure. I’d refine the idea a bit, so it’s less Sliders-but-with-Digimon, and the focus of the series would be more about solving problems and/or mysteries in a fairly episodic matter, with grand serialized plots being secondary to the experience. That would set it apart from the existing series, but it’s a milieu in which I’d be most comfortable working with a story like this.

Bottom line, though, I’m happy to leave it to the pros. :p

So, if you have the opportunity to lead a new Digimon series. What would you like to do? Not a sequel, prequel or spin off. A new series of 50 to 55 episodes.

Honestly I know exactly what I would do but if I write it here I’ll have to acknowledge that the story is just in my head, like it’s just a self-indulgent fanfic basically and it will never become real and honestly that’s way too heartbreaking for me lol, so I’ll just live in denial and keep that story to myself

But yeah. If I got to direct/write a new season of Digimon, I’d know exactly what to do with it, because I kinda already “wrote” it

The idea of a reboot makes my body tremble. It's like saying "Oh, you like this anime from 20 years ago that we have been butchering in the past 5 years? Great! Now take this saw and join me, there's pieces of it left." Why don't make a new anime? It's like they have cero creativity.

Three things:

1. Psi will never replace the original, the original will always be there, it won’t go away

2. Like most reboots and remakes, Psi is going to allow new generatiors to experience and get to know stories and franchise we grew up with. While old classics never die, they do age eventually, and depending on the piece of media, they can reach a point where they stop being approachable for newer generations. There’s nothing wrong with new versions that allow new people to join in on the fun

3. The first season of this franchise is, to this day, the most successful one. After so many financial failures with this franchise, it only makes sense for Toei to try to replicate the success of their first entry as closely as possible. That is literally the only reason we are here.

And while you might want to say that X failed because it wasn’t good or Y was better and they should make more stuff like Y, it doesn’t matter. The higher ups who make the decisions on what shows they want to make only care about the numbers, and Adventure has time and time again proven to be a god damn cashcow, because Adventure has always been the only thing the entire fanbase has thrown actual money at

I’m sure there’s creativity at Toei, stuff like Konaka’s Tamers drama and Kakudou’s rejected pitch prove it. They just don’t get to use it, because Toei is desperate to make the franchise successful again, and the general fanbase has made them believe that this is the only way to do it

About your doubt regarding “what does the Firewall protect the Network from?”, wouldn't it be that the Firewall protects the Network from the NetOcean, having in count that Apocallymon lives there?

You’d think that’s how it goes but nope, the Net Ocean surrounds the Digital World, the Network surrounds the Net Ocean, and the Firewall surrounds the Network. This is basically how the digital space is described within the Null Lore

Apocalymon coming from “beyond the Firewall” is also an Adventure-only thing, as the Firewall isn’t even mentioned in Apocalymon’s Reference Book Entry.
