Experiment 9
Experiment 9: erasure through accumulating marks Following through from experiment 7 where erasure was gained through the accumulation of marks, I painted more boat motifs onto fabric and then covered the motif with paintings of flowers. As more and more flowers were added the boat motif as well as the initial pattern begin to be erased. This continues until the boat is not distinguishable from the flowers and all the painted lines turn into a mess or dye. This experiment works against Erased de Kooning in the literal sense as the erasure is done my adding not removing.
Experiment 9
Probably being the last experiment before exporting the final experimental film, what I tried to do here with the help of my sound design lecturer is create a sound effect which represents how unpleasant and tense is the place where the girl's mind is stuck. After we stop seeing the footage of the colours, we cut back to the old radio, which has stopped working, signifying that the girl needs to get out of that place. A number of sound effects together with a muffled voice and a reverse of all the footage were blended together to make the last few seconds of the experimental film as effective as possible.
