This is a test of a new protocol for New55 R3 Monobath Developer. This time, I did a really aggressive 10 minute force pre-rinse in warm water and 33 deg C monobath for 7 minutes, a couple of inversions and twist agitation for the first 30 seconds, followed by rinse, HCA 2 mins, rinse 5 mins, HCA 2 mins, rinse 5 minutes.

The negatives remain thin and under developed, with distinct purple cast remaining on one side of the negative and moderate base fog. BUT, it’s way better than the recommended protocol, which was so thin and undeveloped I nearly binned the negatives, and badly shot through with bromide-drag ish sprocket streaks.

Next time, I’ll try and use even warmer developer and see at what point the base fog becomes more of a problem than under development. I don’t think I need to do such an aggressive final rinse as the appearance hardly changed from the end of the developer/fixer stage.
