Wokshop Linschoten, sound cartographies.
Understanding the sound heritage of the cities as a big value of the cultural identities, we developed a wokshop in the city of Angra do Heroismo, a Renaissance city, working together with the University of the Azores (UAC), the Biodiverstiy group, and the School Francisco Drummond, in Terceira Island, with the colaboration of historian Juan Miguel Marín and the psychologist Claudia Chávez. We create a serie of audiovisual presentations talking about soundscape theory, sound ecology, experimental music notation, new narratives, some exercises of deep listenting trying to develope the aural consciousness, and how to work with the mobile phones, wich in the contemporary Era, where kids are born in the digital world, is essential teach the whole perspective of this artifact. Phones can be an instrument of science and creation. We work as a musical sheet, with the Linschoten map, a cartography made by the explorer of Dutch origin, who in the Era of Discoveries arrived in Terceira, in the XVI. century. We show to the kids who was Pauline Oliveiros, Murray Schafer, John Cage or Bernie Krause. With a public presentation for the UNESCO Conmemorative days, we propose to the public, kids and us, an exercise of inmersive concert of soundscapes in wich the audiece could imagine walking those acoustic images. https://soundcloud.com/workshop-patrimonio-inmaterial The results are amazing, in terms of the inner development of kids, where they achieved some resources like concentration, expanded perception, better understanding of reality and their habitats, and proudness of their land.
