While we're all patiently waiting for the outcome of my other experiments to render...
EXPERIMENT NUMBER ONE.
This experiment was all about collecting boxes. Round boxes, square boxes, rectangles. Cardboard, plastic, steel. The only rule I set for my collection of boxes was the definition of what could be included (and thus my definition of boxes): Anything with five or more sides (or round, with at least one closed end; so no toilet paper rolls) and an open side.
I gave myself 6 days and collected boxes in day-to-day life that I would have thrown away otherwise. It should be noted that I did not buy any things or boxes just to add to my collection of boxes, but I rather just collected what I bought/used anyway. (So, I lied about the one rule - I guess not letting the experiment influence your consumer behaviour would be the second rule).
And I was shocked to see that in SIX DAYS I had acquired
- nine take-away coffee cups - four take-away cardboard boxes - three take-away plastic boxes - six random packaging boxes (both plastic & cardboard) - one steel can
And it made me realize
A) This girl can eat. B) I clearly have a coffee problem. C) Holy shit, that’s a lot of waste from ONE human being. in. SIX. DAYS.
