Jonerys Fandom Unites

We're pleased to announce that the Jonerys charity auction will open this Sunday August 12 at around 1:30PM GMT (see when this is for you here). A number of talented artists and writers have volunteered to create original fanfic and fanart to help raise donations for the charity UN Women UK. View our campaign page here or read about UN Women UK’s good work here.

Each “bid slot” will get its own post. Bids for each slot can be posted as replies. Bidding will close on August 19. The highest bid received for each slot will win.  Winners will then make donations to the charity in the amount of their bids. The next highest bid will be chosen in the event that a winning bidder’s donation falls through, cannot be sufficiently verified, or the bidder cannot reach an agreement with the artist/author on whose slot they’ve bid.

Please place bids using amounts in USD. You can donate to the campaign using another currency (here is a handy converter), but bidding in a single, internationally-known currency will makes things easier on our end.

You may bid on more than one slot. You may also bid again on slots you have already bid on in the event that someone else places a higher bid than you. But try not to be too aggressive – we want to keep this friendly and positive!

All bids will be publicly viewable in the notes of the auction posts. Thus, should you wish to remain anonymous for some reason (perhaps you are hoping to surprise a friend with some art/fic from their favourite artist/writer!), we suggest that you create a throwaway sideblog for the purpose of placing your bid(s). If you are the winning bidder, please place your donation in the name of your blog, or leave a message noting that the donation has come from you. We may also require that winning bidders send screenshots of their donation receipts to verify that they have made donations in the (converted) amount of their bid.

Also note that we do not have access to donated funds. JustGiving automatically sends all funds raised in campaigns created on its site to the designated charity (less than a 5% processing fee) once a week.

You don’t have to place a bid in order to donate to the campaign. Every donation, however large or small, is helping make women’s lives better!

Jonerys Fanfiction Charity Drive

@got-addict recently started a JustGiving campaign to gather donations for the charity UN Women UK (the campaign page can be found here). The J0nsa fandom has managed to raise over $2000 USD for a similar charity. So, Jonerys family, let’s band together and try to do some good for a worthy cause.

This blog is going to host a fanfiction auction for charity! The Jonerys community gets some lovely Jonerys fanfic while helping a charity! Remember that every donation – no matter how small – can help make a difference.

How It Works

This auction will work kind of like art commissions. The participating authors will volunteer their talents in exchange for donations to the charity. Bidding will open on a date to be announced. The highest bid received will win. If for any reason a donation falls through, or the prospective donor cannot reach an agreement with the author, the next highest bid will be chosen instead.

The auction will be take place on this blog. Each author’s slot will be given its own post and users will be able to post their bids in the replies. This means bids will be publicly viewable, so if for some reason you wish to remain anonymous, you can set up a throwaway sideblog to use.

To keep things friendly for authors, we’re offering some fun, safe prompts. Some of the participating authors may also be open to doing free choice requests. We will create an author post for the participants’ individual stipulations. This includes how many bid slots they have open, what type of stories they are offering (drabbles, one-shots, longer works, smut vs fluff vs angst, au vs canon verse, etc.), and what subjects/content they are willing to handle.

There will also be no fixed timeframe for delivery of the finished fic. Each author is welcome to set their own timeframe, which will be listed in the author post. 

So, this is the part where we ask for authors interested in participating! Please reach out to this blog or to any of the mods -- @got-addict, @seleya, or @mhysaofdragons to volunteer or to ask specific questions. Thank you!

Graphics charity drive

We’ve had some interest from a couple of graphics-makers keen on lending their skills to help out the Jonerys Fandom Unites charity drive. Thus we’re expanding the drive to include graphics like moodboards, gifsets, and manips. Note that our original plan for this drive was to limit it to fanart and fanfic. We never meant to denigrate the skill and hard work of the many talented graphic-makers in the Jonerys fandom by taking this initial approach. It was an attempt to try to keep the logistics of running this drive manageable for us.

The graphics drive will run separately from the fanart or fanfic drives. It will not be auction-based, as to provide a friendly, competition-free option for donating. It will also run beyond the closing date (August 19) of the fic and art drives. Graphic-makers can set a fixed donation amount for their graphic slots or choose to allow people to donate whatever amount they are able. 

Please reply to this post with the following info if you wish to take part:

The number of graphics you’re willing to create for the drive (i.e. a limited number vs. as many as people are willing to donate for).

The type of graphics you’re offering (moodboards, gifsets, or manips).

What themes or content you’re willing to do in your graphics.

Whether you have any technical expertise or limitations (e.g. if you add  special effects like flames, sparkles, etc. to gifs you make).

Whether you would prefer a specific donation amount or are open to people donating whatever amount they are able/willing.

Graphics Drive Runoff 

There are several slots in our graphics drive that remain unclaimed. We are thus opening up runoff posts for these slots in the hope they will receive pledges. This is still not an auction. The first pledge in each post will claim the slot.

Remaining graphics slots are are follows:

@akurotori – seven slots (gifsets, manips, and aesthetics)

@forevertheanimekid – one slot (gifset, moodboard, or poster edit)

@the-last-targaryens – two slots (moodboards)

The graphics drive runoff will close September 2 at approximately 1:30PM GMT. Or else as soon as all the remaining slots have received pledges.

Contacting Bidders/Creatives

We’ve received an inquiry from a participating creative regarding how to  approach contacting their winning bidder to fulfill their custom request. If you’re a winning bidder, feel free to directly reach out to the artist/writer/graphic-maker whose slot you bid on, explaining what you'd like them to create for you. Or, if you’re a creative, feel free to contact the winner to get the conversation started. Message @jonerys-art if you’d like to have an intermediary in the process.

How to Make Your Donation

The fanfic and fanart auction will be wrapping up soon. Here are the steps to follow to make your donation in the event your bid on a slot is the winning one.

Visit the Jonerys Fandom Unites campaign page on JustGiving and click the “donate” button beside the lovely banner by @gogenevieveart.

Enter a donation amount equivalent to the pledge you made in USD. So, for example, if you pledged $20 in American dollars but wish to donate in Canadian dollars, the converted donation would be $26CAD. You can find a very useful currency conversion tool on this website. JustGiving accepts donations in the following currencies: AED (United Arab Emirates dirham), AUD (Australian dollars), CAD (Canadian dollars), EUR (euros), GBP (British pounds), HKD (Hong Kong dollars), SGD (Singapore dollars), USD (American dollars), and ZAR (South African rand). Don’t worry about making your donation match the converted amount to the penny.

Sign your donation with a unique name. This can be your real name, your Tumblr username, or something random like “Dany’s Biggest Fan.” Keep in mind that this signature will be publicly viewable to everyone.

Message one of the Jonerys Fandom Unites mods (@got-addict, @seleya/@jonerys-art, or @mhysaofdragons) letting them know that you have made your donation and what signature you used. We may also request that you supply a screenshot of your donation receipt.

We ask that you try to make donations within two weeks of the auction’s close. If, however, there are circumstances that mean you need a bit longer to fulfill your donation, please message one of the mods to let us know. We will try to be accommodating, but, at the same time, if your donation cannot be made after a month or so, it is only fair that your slot go to the next highest bidder.
