just. when i first read that passage i had assumed it was something from post-bookshop fire, yeah? that he'd been in his flat and the radio was on and the knob was a door anddddd NO. this is after tadfield manor. aziraphale is RIGHT NEXT TO HIM. he's losing hope fast and imagining what hell's gonna do to him and he can't do anything about it.
