Johnson Canyon Upper Waterfall: Hike
My entire life I've lived in Calgary and grew up with the mountains in my backyard. My childhood was learning how to snowboard, skate and hike; but adulting has gotten the best of me, and sadly I haven't been hiking in over 2 years. As one of my summer goals I wanted to go hiking as much as possible, I love hiking and being out in the mountains whenever I get the opportunity.
Johnson Canyon was my first summer hike. Although Johnson Canyon in more well known for the ink pots, I had originally planed on hiking up Grassi Lakes but due to a bear sighting we needed to find a new trail for the day, and I was not prepared mentally or physically for a 5.8km hike, so we went to the Upper Waterfalls at Johnson Canyon.
Immediately I noticed how busy the trail was with family's with small children; don't get me wrong family's and children are great.... in large places where you can avoid them, as we hiked up it was less busy but next time I go to Johnston Canyon I will plan on going quite a bit earlier and I'll make sure to bring my IPod.
The trail itself was beautiful, an amazing catwalk lead us to beautiful waterfalls and lookout points. But keep in mind if you plan on doing this trail to go early to miss the rush of family's, unless you are into that.
Check out the photos below to see some of the shots we took!

Roxy’s Way
Had the pleasure of ripping around and getting into trouble with Lucette last weekend at the Calgary Folk Fest. She is certainly a photogenic lady, even when she is 30 stories tall.
I still hear them sometimes, when I'm alone and close my eyes.
