I have to say, I was a little worried the Oscar romance path wasn't going to be as interesting as other romances, but I no longer have that fear.

Unhappy Mother's Day to this!!
bro reddit Stella hate is actually so crazy, I know it's a fictional story but I legit don't want to meet those people in real life if that's their reaction to how someone who is traumatized and lacks a good support network deals with crisis situations
scarlet hollow episode 5 is so fun because every of the characters I roleplayed in my playthroughs had very defined values and established behaviours but with the weight of the previous episodes and the overall crazyness of ep 5 they just start crumbling down and making rash desicions and actively changing in so many different ways, it's awesome
I'm honestly obsessed with how surprisingly easy it is for people to miss Avery's inclusion in the story.
In my first run I didn't think much of it cuz I of course wanted to be involved with as much characters as possible, but then it turns out a requirement for them to even be considered for invitation to the ghost hunt is to either do their wednesday hangout (a direct desire to include them) or to tell them what happened in the woods on tuesday. (or to tell stella to invite them on her hangout but that seems like more of an edge case opportunity than the other two)
The first is quite unlikely because stella, tabitha and kaneeka who have played mayor roles in the story at that point would seem like more attractive options to get to know more personally than someone you briefly saw at the diner twice (except for averymancers, shout out to you!)
But that makes the option to tell them the truth on tuesday really interesting because it doesn't feel like such a big deal at that point. The option to not tell, at least to me, felt like the game was showing me that, hey!, maybe you want to think about the way even small decisions like this can branch off! Hell I even lied to them initially because it suddenly felt like maybe divulging that kind of information with a stranger was a bit too much and possibly dangerous, but then I thought "well, it's not that big of a deal, it's not like anything that happened was anyone's fault".
But as it turns out, venting to Avery who is a stranger to us is just as crazy as any of the town's people venting to them, because they all still treat them like a stranger.
And then the act of sharing something so traumatic and personal like what you experienced on monday so easily suddenly feels all the more significant. Because they might play it cool but this is actually a huge step of trust that no else has taken so quickly, and they met this person yesterday. Even Julius who seems to be the only one to regard them in any meaningful way took time to warm up to them.
And that's how that choice to tell them the truth or not seeming oddly important despite how casually you reach it is actually quite genius, because realistically, you don't know them! you don't need them to tell them everything! who knows how spreading that info might turn out?
Hell, you might not even see them on tuesday! Or maybe you didn't even talk to them, because why would you talk to a stranger for no reason?
And suddenly Avery falls through the cracks and remains a stranger to the player, only getting glimpses of them here and there if they cared enough to give them a minute of your time before you can even understand that they are not gonna be part of your story.
Not until you see them in a basement, sorrounded by people you barely know in an incomprehensible situation, all their lives in your hand with no understanding of that fact.
"What is Avery doing here?"
. . .
"Who is Avery?"
it's actually insane the amount of time umineko just spends like
literally telling you exactly what is happening
but it still works as a mistery because it spends the rest of the time lying to your face
do you guys think Homura ever wanted to just let her soul gem build up in impurities so she could be taken by the cycle just to see Madoka again but never did because she knew she wouldn't want that for her
