2nd grade: reading + visual art

how can a picture represent an idea?
at ashe, we are back to school, learning and making art together!
in the 2nd grade, we introduced ourselves using pictures. each student chose a postcard with an image that shows others something about who they are. then, we shared our observations and ideas aloud with the class.
The picture has lots of lights. Some of them are bright. The sky is orange and it looks like nighttime. The sun is going down. And you see this part? It's black. The floor is pretty. It looks like ice. It looks like ice when you drive on the highway. Everywhere on the paper has lights but only some are on. Some buildings have pointy things.
I picked this because it is my favorite one that I like. It represents I went here one time -- it was out about where I was living at in Palmetto, near where my Grandma lives at. This picture makes me feel happy and has a lot of details in it. It makes me happy because it would be fun. I want to bring a book like this home.
