The museum entry reads: "The unusually long and heavy rapier has a movable blade that can be pushed back into the hollow handle. By means of two gears and the teeth on the side in the area of ​​the ricasso, two gears with springs are tensioned when pushing back into the handle. Loosening a trigger will cause the blade to protrude."
