Hazbin Hotel Theory

Okay, there are a few things that have been bothering me about the show, story-wise. I know we're going to get answers to these questions in season 3, and season 4 is like in post-production or being made at the same time we got confirmed season 5.

One thing that's been nipping at my brain a lot is the fact that we know the exterminations have been going on for 7 years. The thing that's really scratching my brain is why was Adam in charge of the Exorcist Army to begin with? It's pretty obvious that the extermination idea and making it an all-female angel army with him as the head was definitely Adam's idea, 100%. But tell me why Sera, the head seraphim, would be okay with Adam being the general of Heaven's Army when Michael exists.

You're probably wondering why I'm complaining about this, because arguably Michael is the most qualified person to lead this Exorcist Army, not Adam. A counterpoint might be that Adam would just stab Sera in the back and tell Heaven's leaders that this was all Sera's idea and have Heaven question her leadership skills, simply because Adam wasn't going to be the head of the army if Sera picked Michael over him. I can see this happening, but Sera would probably just play into Adam's ego and say something like, 'No, Adam, you're still going to be in charge of it. You helped convince me and gave me proof that this is a necessary action, but you'll be answering to Michael as well. However, Michael is going to be your superior because compared to your experience, Michael's experience is far superior than yours, and his insight will be very important into how to lead and boost morale of this Army. This would be heavily valued and may aid you when it comes to leading a military campaign, although I hope you will not need it.' Something like that would stroke Adam's ego but also calm him down.

Because whether we like it or not, from Heaven's view at this point, the Exorcist Army vanishing for one day every year was a military campaign (even though it's actually a goddamn genocide). So yeah, the biggest thing scratching my brain is why wasn't Michael in charge of it? Did Lucifer ban Michael from ever showing up in Hell in general? I know Lucifer is the king of Hell, and there's probably agreements between Heaven and Hell regarding their existence, but I think Lucifer tried to do something like a ban on certain high-ranking angels coming to Hell. Maybe Heaven was going to at least make a compromise with the king of Hell, but Big G (God, Heavenly Father) got involved and said no. Heaven is going to side with Big G.

But it still wraps my brain: why have Adam when somebody way more competent than Adam exists, Michael for instance? Sera probably thought Michael wouldn't agree to the extermination, an extermination that she felt Heaven had to do, or maybe she did ask Michael and he said no and wasn't going to get involved with Adam's pet project."

Hazbin Hotel: Extermination Day New Year’s Eve

Adam: *getting surprisingly excited over the new year and is prepping for something*

Alastor: *peeks over* Adam dear, what are you doing?

Adam: It’s December 31st! Which means it’s *puts on his old helmet and old exorcists gear* It’s EXTERMINATION DAY!!!

Alastor: …did you forget that you’re a sinner now and the exorcism days has been canceled for good?

Adam: *gets sad and pouts* But I wanna kill some sinners!

Alastor: Oh I’m not stopping you from that.

Adam: *brightens immediately, eyes lighting up* …Wait. You’re not?

Alastor: *smiles thinly, static crackling faintly* Perish the thought. I’m merely reminding you that mass-sanctioned slaughter with trumpets and holy fire is off the calendar. Personal enrichment, however? Entirely flexible.

Adam: *gasps* Oh. Oh that’s way better actually.

Alastor: Indeed. Think of it as… freelance extermination. No quotas. No paperwork. No angels breathing down your neck about “ethics.”

Adam: *pulls his helmet back on, suddenly energized* So I can still wear the gear?

Alastor: By all means. Nostalgia is important. Just— *glances pointedly* —try not to impale anyone in front of the children.

Adam: *pauses* …Define “in front of.”

Alastor: Same room, same floor, or within earshot of enthusiastic shrieking.

Adam: *sighs dramatically* You’re sucking all the fun outta this.

Alastor: *leans closer, voice dropping conspiratorially* Oh, hush. I already arranged a little New Year’s “outing.” A den of particularly unpleasant sinners who’ve overstayed their welcome.

Adam: *grin slowly spreading* Oh. So this is like a date?

Alastor: A date. With bloodshed. And champagne afterward.

Adam: *pumps a fist* Best New Year ever.

Alastor: *adjusts his bowtie, smile sharp* Do try to pace yourself, darling. The night is young… and Hell is very full.

Adam: *cackling as he grabs his axe* EXORCISM DAY LIVES AGAIN—just with better management!

Alastor: *dryly* Heaven help them. Oh—right… *beams* It won’t. *laughs*

Adam: Babe you’re so fucking hot right now.

Alastor: *smiles while leaning in* Come back to me with the blood of the damn covering you, and I’ll be sure to *whispers something so only Adam can hear*

Adam: *face changes from surprise to damn well excited* I fucking love you.

Alastor: And I too, love you~ now go have fun while I settle the babies. And then we’ll have our own type of fun as the clock chimes in the new year~

Adam: FUCK YES!!!! *flies off to go slaughter some sinners*

Hazbin Hotel Prediction: There's a tie between the Cannibals and the Exorcists

I'm probably not the first one to say this. But. First off, Rosie has the same neck things, but reversed. The Exorcists also have the same background smiley things as the Cannibals do, in the scene where Adam and Lute are giving their speech. They also have generally similar looks- and when Vaggie's eye was ripped out, it does look suspiciously like Rosie's. Perhaps most importantly, however, is that they both seem to have a hivemind-like allegiance to their leader, including all of their expressions matching... them booing Vaggie gave everyone booing Charlie. Just saying. It doesn't explain how male cannibals exist. But. I'm *probably* overthinking this but I'm stuck on this now

Extermination Day:

The Radio Demon once again found himself on the defense, providing a shield infused with his magic around the hotel to buy the others some time and slowing the onslaught of the exorcists. It bought them time to think, strategize, and enact whatever plans they were going to do. He had waited until the angels had gotten closer, hoping to conserve what he had and then releasing it.

He wasn't going to get caught this time.

The shield itself took an exertion of effort energy wise, so the others would have to think fast before he was forced to drop it in order to help with the fight. He couldn't do both. He could only hope that the princess was able to do what she needed to do in that time frame.

His dialed eyes clicking with anticipation, the static screeching within the swirling force around the hotel. The tendrils attached swinging wildly. And while the field kept them at bay, Alastor licked his lips at the thought of shifting into his eldritch form to continue the fight.

The origins of extermination day

Over 2000 years ago, there was a meeting met only for both the king and queen of hell with their highest rank overlord overseer at the time  [deeeeeeeez nuts] ] along with officials of heaven, the high seraphim Sera, Lucifer’s brother Micheal, and what seemed to be at least two other heaven officials were there at the meeting.

Of course, the reason for the meeting was due to a potential ‘warning of rebellion’ from the sinners and hellborn due to hell's growth in size over the last thousands of years; and Heaven wanted to ensure that a rebellion could never happen. So a few months before 1BC became 0AD a meeting was set up to discuss what to do with this.

Of course to the shocking surprise, it was Heaven who demanded a yearly extermination to occur, to which Lilith and Lucifer said NO for many reasons; the fight went on and on until an agreement was made between Heaven and Hell, In exchange for the once a year killings they would get request three things to happen. And Those?

The Royals families and Hellborn are excluded from extermination

 If any sinner or overlord fights back then it's allowed(although no killing of the soldiers is permitted)

(Markings of the last one were strictly marked in black at the Hells Archives and any other History book, the only known people who could potentially know of what the last exchange was made could only be told by Lucifer and Lilith and whoever is the highest rank overlord currently)

One day,on the first day, of the first week of the new year heaven would send an army of their man-made soldiers called exorcists(to heaven they are called the powers but no one in hell calls em that) Theirs only a total of three kinds of exorcist that comes.

(More details about the exorcists and their ranks will come out when I make my exorcist lore dump)

After the meeting, on 0AD January 1st came the first extermination

It was recorded that BILLIONS of sinners died that day, being stabbed, slashed, and brutally mutilated beyond repair.

After they have killed at least one body; these exorcists tend to inject a needle into the corpses they killed to get around a pint of sinner blood. No one knows the reason why they're doing this due to not risking their life to then end up dead.

The main leader of the exorcist was at first Lucifer's estranged angel brother Micheal, but for the last 1,000 years, Adam has been the current one in charge (FIRST MAN ADAM)! He has been the recent leader of the exorcists (this is also because he's the reason that he could regenerate most of the army through his ribs is one reason enough) But around the early 1000s he had made his case for wanting to be in control since as of the last 200 exterminations Micheal has been too soft on his leadership with the exorcists and that they should have a leader who has a connection to the exorcists (thought rumors were going around that he wants to be the leader due to the lose of his poor wife Eve; who while still died she didn't go to heaven with him)

After the meeting it was decided that Adam would be in charge of the exorcists, leading them down into Hell for every extermination and majority of the paperwork; Micheal however still does train the exorcists while he does, and some of the paperwork too. It was… balanced to a certain degree but heaven decided it was for the best.

A few hundred years after Adam became the leader, sinners started to fight back. Most of them were making weapons that couldn't kill the exorcists, but they were able to hold them back for their protection. While Adam tried to raise a point to heaven that this wasn't fair, of course, in the deal that was made, as long as a sinner or overlord didn't kill one, it was alright, which infuriated Adam.

As of the 1500’s a new type of exorcist had started to emerge and became much more prompted, exorcist winners, were the angelic winners who died on earth and recently decided to become exorcists to protect heaven. Although there is no known reason why Heaven started to recruit their winners that's a mystery for another time. 

As the next five hundred plus years went on, the death count was starting to dwindle, sure there were kills in the millions but soon enough it was starting to dwindle from low millions to recent hundred thousand which made heaven get nervous; if the sinners start not only defend themselves from the powers themselves, and even happen to get slivers/fragments of their weapons that happen to break from the demon sinner “defending” themselves. What else can they do… what can they do indeed…

(Alright so OOOF this took a lot out of me to write down, yeah I have finally written out my extermination lore this time around. Yeah, I decided to leave some things to be a mystery so that I can leave some theories up to people and their own imaginations.)

(One I can't wait to write about when I get to making my season two more focused on the of plotline with angel lore, cause while there will be mentions here and there for season 1, season 2 will have more of heaven focus with basically the OG season 1 plotline and that I really can't wait to explain the lore for that hopefully in December 2024/January 2025)
