Muslims on tiktok romanticising Muhammed and Aisha's marriage 😬😬😬😬
There is a subtle horror in fireplaces. My mother told me it was where children who curse their father went. I used to sit in front of it, reach my hands right up, almost against the flames.
One day it licked my fingertip, and my fingertip burned. I cried like the child I was. I never sat so close to the fireplace again, even though, by the next month, even my skin had brushed away the memory.
Even now the sight of it sends some fearful, primal part of me spiralling. I think I shouldn't be so terrified of fire, anymore. But it still haunts me.
