The Scimitar-horned oryx has been revived in the Sahara after going extinct in the wild for over two decades. Captive zoo populations from all over the world allowed this reintroduction to be possible. 23 individuals were released in a remote area of Chad and due to their initial success another set will soon follow. In additional promising news, the first baby was even born recently and looks to be in good health.
