summary: Ann Walker has no work-life balance as she works for a relentless businessperson, Anne Lister, in London. As the end of the year approaches, Lister asks her a preposterous favour—to be their fake wife over the holidays at their parents' house. Against her better judgment, Walker accepts the request without knowing it will be the longest, the most stressful and life-changing three days of her life.
Just a silly little story. Just Ann(e)s and Marian(a)s sharing a single brain cell. A story in which everyone thinks they're the smartest one.
One of the many things I love about Quiz Lady is that Terry McTeer is a nice guy.
It's too common for characters like him, the protagonist's childhood hero, to turn out to be a massive jerk in person, and that revelation is often the turning point in the protagonist's arc.
I was expecting this "plot twist," and when it never came, it made me realize how refreshing it actually is as far as creative writing goes. Terry is genuinely a nice guy, and the man who was suspected of being a jerk was in fact the biggest whiny bitch.
For some reason, my brain decided that Robin Colinson was his name instead of Colin Robinson.
thinking about how the innies are figuring out Lumon’s secrets and planning a rebellion at the end of the season, and here’s Irving, spending an entire season acting as his dick dictates.
but for Irving B., this is his true puppy love. he doesn’t know anything about romance, but he saw Burt and went ‘you’re the most important thing in my severed life.’
and I appreciate the fact that they gave the oldest character this puppy love arc.
