This week, numerous fixtures have been covered in white tape displaying the text ‘Extraless.co’ across the Goldsmiths University campus and the New Cross area.

Whilst this tape has appeared quite spontaneously, it is in fact linked to a new London based fashion brand, an act of advertising rather than vandalism or crime.

We spoke to the co-founder of Extraless, Bade Fatona who said “With the barrier tape, we sought to repurpose something stereotypically associated with "danger" or "shock" - by using it to draw attention to something positive”, thus representing the anti-traditional means of marketing, what Extraless see as doing it the “right” way.

The site outlines the aim of creating a product that shrinks the gap between ‘customer’ and ‘craftsperson’, which Bade explained, “We're challenging people to value substance as much as they do style and to be different, different for real.”

Extraless is based in London and aims to bring Japanese cult fashion to the city without the substantial shipping fee. As an online retailer, the store specialises in contemporary menswear and accessory labels from a global background. The company has combined the sale of British labels Phoebe English, Mohsin and NEUBA with Japanese cult brands including Moonstar, Ekiji and Avalone, which have been brought to the UK for the first time. The store also offers a range of limited edition skateboard prints from the likes of Andy Warhol, Ai Wei Wei and Robert Rauschenberg.
