It is not even 7 am and I am WIDE AWAKE. And it is all because I remembered the most amazing passing of events last night.
Sometimes there are people who you admire from afar and you never expect to come in personal contact with. Ed Tullett was one of them. A and I only just heard of him last week, but he has quickly become one of our favorite persons. (Even though we'd never actually met him and he lives an ocean away.)
But, sometimes things happen. And sometimes I flip when they do.
In an unusually brave stunt, I sent a message asking if Ed would play a song over skype for A's birthday. And he responded. Because he's a real person. Which is really nice. Then, because he is a real person with real people money problems, I bought his Never Joy cd and donated a little extra to be nice. AND HE SENT ME A PERSONAL EMAIL TO SAY THANK YOU. Because he's a real person. A really, really nice, real person. And I hyperventilated.
I thought that was the end of any Ed-related excitement, but NO. Because A tweeted about him. And he retweeted her! And things just started rolling down hill and, after a week of listening to his music and a name drop by A (bless her so much!) Ed Tullett now knows who we are and thinks we are nice people.
But we are so weird and I don't know how to handle it. All I could do in response to the unbelievable-ness was roll on the floor (which really hurt because of my sunburn) and cry (which was more like hysterical laughing because tears don't actually happen for me that often). It took me FOREVER to calm down enough to go to sleep. And once I rolled over and started remembering about possibly being friends with Ed, my brain was awake. At 6:30 am.
Now, I just hope that I don't lose my cool if he actually skypes A like he said he would. Except the chances of me losing my cool are very high because I'm not sure how much cool I had to begin with.
But, oh my stars, I appreciate Ed Tullett so much.
