It’s wild how often asexual people are pitted against hypersexual people and extrasexual people cuz the reality is that both extremes of sexual expression are marginalized for the same reasons. Sex in our culture is both deified and demonized, and if you don’t participate in a very narrow band of “approved” sexual behavior then you’ll be coerced, shunned, and punished. Asexual people and highly sexual people are allies whenever everyone involved puts emphasis on individual agency and respect for consent and safety.

So this is a general curiosity I saw you made pride flags for extra-, super-, and mega- sexuality and the general vibe of it is sex positivity and being sexually motivated and you expressed how you hoped one day they'd branch out with different individual meanings like bi and pan as an example to each other Following This I came across your posts about it all because I came across megasexual searching for an opposite to demisexual which in some corners of the internet is referred to an orientation that a person cannot form any sort of emotional bond implying a further deeper connection/base attraction to someone unless there's an established sexual connection/chemistry first (which the reason I was searching for any label with this meaning is because it's strongly how I feel) and while trying to search for more of that I found your stuff and I wanted to see how you felt if megasexual kept it's roots with how you presented everything but did branch out to that newer/different definition?

Ive seen sex educators like Reid About Sex and Sexplanations use megasexual to just mean what i described in my post. I think Reud possibly couned the term as well?

I'm open to it meaning something else. I personally identify with your description, i cant form romantic bonds without a strong sexual connection first.

I just use extrasexual because it reminds me of aliens and sounds cools

hey fun fact you can be asexual, sex-repulsed, and hypersexual all at the same time and none of those identities conflict with each other.

the opposite of being sex-repulsed (/sex-negative), is being sex-positive! sex-positive aces are a recognized part of the asexual community!

the opposite of being hypersexual is not, in fact, being sex repulsed! hypersexuality is typically distressing for the people who experience it, its a disordered way of interacting with sexuality and often stems from some form of trauma!

not all hypersexual people are allosexual (meaning they experience sexual attraction)!

the term many people are looking for when hypersexuality is mentioned is usually extrasexual! someone who is, as it happens, very sexual!

extrasexual people and asexual people are not enemies and anyone, regardless of their sexual attraction, can be hypersexual

Happy pride day to all people who identify as extrasexual, supersexual or megasexual! Of course it's 6/9 ! (Sorry to any of those who are celebrating in a place where the date reads 9/6...maybe you can celebrate again in September) Today I'm officially updating the flag so it reads better in a digital format! The green still represents consent, purple is sensuality, pink is carnality...and the black star represents the kink community. How are you planning on celebrating?

A friend pointed out that the black stripes meant to represent the kink community on the extrasexual pride flag read kinda weird in a digital format. (check my pinned if you dont know what im talking about) It suggested removing them and using a logo like other sex-related pride flags, but I personally hate that choice in flag design. Maybe a very simple black 6 pointed star somewhere would still work. Another friend suggested moving the stripes inbetween the other colors. I'm interested in hearing people's opinions and other alternative ideas! This flag is still new so its a good time to make design changes before I get one actually sewn!

since 'hypersexual' is a mental health symptom, it basically is a word people can identify with when they have an unusually high interest in sex/sexuality that is healthy/adaptive

A play partner showed me a podcast sometime last year where they talk about megasexual and it definitely felt like something I identify with and seems to “fit” (for lack of a better term) with my being aromantic. But I haven’t heard of extrasexual before and I don’t feel confident in the google results I got. How do you define it?

Theyre the exact same thing. I didn't know that some sex educators had been using the term megasexual when I came up with the idea to create a pride flag for extrasexual and supersexual. After learning about it, I added it to that post. Maybe someday when there's a thriving extrasexual community, the labels will evolve to have slightly different definitions like bisexual/pansexual/polysexual...but right now they are completely interchangeable and people should just use whichever one sounds best to them.
