neil tries very hard to be a DECENT person , unlike renee who is trying ( & succeeding ) to be a GOOD person. perhaps this would be one of the few things they have in common. neil finds it HARD to relate to people and even now , while he sits in silence next to her , he cannot find something else that brings him closer to her. andrew , perhaps ? he is a connection , isn’t he ?
he exhales slowly , chest feeling free of weight. muffled voices come from the girls’ room , where most of the foxes are gathered again. he does not feel like being in a crowd. silence is better.
