I’ve always had a fascination with eyes... from the moments I picked up a pensil and began to doodle eyes were the one thing I wanted to draw... I have random eyes on pages of journals that I’ve drawn repeatedly, as if looking to understand how it is that you can see people’s souls right through their eyes. Some spiritual practices teach that the eye is all seeing and the “window of the soul.” The eyes are symbolic of Gods, especially sun gods, as all seeing beings, eyes represent perception and spiritual enlightenment. Two eyes often correspond to the Sun and the Moon, while a 3rd eye will often mean fire. Eyes are capable of destruction but in Egypt, they used eyes as protective talismans. In Christianity the “Eye of Providence” represents God’s omnipresence, and when the eye is drawn within a triangle it means the Holy Trinity. . .
