a lot of them seem to suddenly care about lgbt people now that it gives them the chance to be dickheads to muslim people… it’s like what happened in cologne and we were like “wait, you care about women now?”
that’s the thing. I mean we’re talking about politicians who have campaigned on stripping rights from LGBT+ folks & have actually passed laws doing so.
i think it’s entirely possible this guy was inspired by IS/Daesh but the GOP has long been culpable for facilitating & encouraging bigotry against LGBT+ people. anyone remember how they wanted a constitutional amendment against same sex marriage in the 90s? and then the recent transphobic bathroom crap? the IS link should be investigated, but you can’t try to make this only about IS as if all those attempts to get same sex marriage overturned, discriminatory laws & suggesting people be “put in concentration camps” aren’t part of your electoral success & that you’ve actively tried to inflame it. Or the general racism spewing from the party’s platform as Trump so clearly shows. Because bigots who hate black and latinx LGBT+ people for slightly different reasons like the Orlando gunman are ultimately facilitated by that climate the Republican Party has created. now they are dodging their culpability by telling LGBT+ folks to “realise” who “the real enemy is”.
homophobia is present across different communities & everyone should do their part to address it. and in the US, the Republican Party is certainly a huge part of the problem.

I think it's funny how pro-brexit people are like "we can join the european trade zone or work out a free trade agreement between the uk and eu like other countries did!!" like gurl, those other countries didn't leave the EU. If we leave the EU we'll get nothing and deserve it.
exactly i mean those EFTA countries that aren’t in the EU never joined it in the first place. completely different for the UK- which was at first like all- ‘go have your cool kids club yourself, i don’t need you lot!’ then ‘well, can i join???!’ and now back to its delusional Splendid Isolation™ thinking where it can just replace extensive ties with the EU with that of the Anglosphere™ b/c the fact that the British Empire is dead as a doornail is news to these people. Politically, there’s just gonna be fallout and it’s not going to be pleasant especially since the other EU countries see the UK as having already received special treatment.
even if this somehow manages to be an amicable divorce, it’s going to be extremely disruptive and costly on so many levels, just administratively speaking.
