I think it should be emphasized more that Knuckles is basically an anthropologist. I assume he’s considered a treasure hunter since he’s had to track down the Master and Chaos Emeralds (plus his characterization in OVA), but these are also significant cultural artifacts. And SA1 showed us that he cares to learn more about the history of his people.

Like, wouldn’t it be cool if he were recording everything he’s learning in journals? Sketching out the architecture and mapping the island. Making detailed observations of the chao so he can understand them and do a better job of protecting them. Trying to piece together the evolution of echidna culture and interactions between tribes. Divergence showed that his life is more than just standing in front of the Master Emerald, let’s run with that.

I love that they’re including the SA2 nonsense of viewing Sonic and Shadow as identical/extremely similar in appearance. Like, Shadow is literally black and red and has a different quill pattern, they do not look like twins lmao.
