Mun’s interpretation. sTOP THAT, YOU.ezrxal
❀: Share a headcanon you have not shared.
// Trash-trash wants an explanation on the little tiny conversation we had this morning, I’m guessing. SO! YOU WANT TO HEAR A STORY, EH? MAYBE A HEADCANON ABOUT WHY ERIKA CAN’T CONCEIVE?
Hahahahahaahhahahahah sure why not. I’m not sure if this counts as a trigger, but I’m going to put a page break here anyway. It’s also pretty long.
So. Erika can’t conceive children, as much as she’d like to. Right now, at least.
I’m by no means a biology/anatomy professor or anything, but I’d imagine that the heavy abuse that Erika sustained from Katarina at a young age must have a lot to do with it. What type of abuse is entirely up to you, but I definitely hope that you do not think about what I think you’re thinking about, because no, not even my Katarina is sick enough to do something like that with a dagger and a young, developing girl… maybe.
For sake of this post (and retaining any semblance of the little sanity I have left), I’m going to leave that interpretation up to you, but I think it’s a real possibility. That part of the headcanon is not 100%, but I personally hope that I can convince myself to not make it a headcanon. Though, I do suppose that Katarina’s physical abuse (the beatings, rather than the cutting part) could have had some sort of negative effect on Erika’s developing body.
More importantly, Erika has eating disorders (I actually don’t think I’ve ever mentioned much about her lack of eating habits, aside from the fact that she’s a vegetarian), and could never eat much. I highly doubt that Riven and Iver would ever let this slide, so it would be something that occurred as a result of Katarina’s constant abuse, after Riven went off to join the army. From what I understand, not getting enough nutrients, fluids, etc. can make periods lighter, and perhaps stop them altogether. That, coupled with the fact that I also read psychological stressers can also contribute to these problems. Even if she did get over any of these eating disorders (and well, who knows? Talon made her happy, so he could’ve convinced her to start eating better), you need to remember that she soon became a stowaway on a boat and had little to eat. There’s also the point in her life where she had to live off even smaller portions of food and couldn’t get enough to survive when she finally made it to Ionia. If she hadn’t been saved by Varus, then she would’ve died, no doubt about it.
And even if her time with Varus helped her regain enough strength to start eating properly, the Noxian-Ionian war would’ve destroyed all of that hard work because she, one, had to travel by herself with almost no way to eat, and two, was probably heavily traumatized at the sight of her beloved friends and family massacred in front of her. This could’ve easily prompted the eating disorders to return, even when she goes to Piltover. I’d imagine that Ezreal and Vi would be extremely hospitable and pushy for her to eat up, and I personally think that it worked (considering how she eats in “Back Again”, an RP that I have with the person who dropped this ask in my box!) so… maybe she’s on the road to recovery.
But again, I’m no professional, nor have I experienced eating disorders (I mean, I think I have psychological problems :D but they’re not very serious), so take this as you will.
Long story short, at this point in her life, she can’t conceive. In the future? Painful periods, probably, then maybe? I have no idea. //
