aUGH DAMN YOU I WANT TO GO PLAY IT RIGHT NOW…

THAT I CAN DATE ABSOLUTELY ANY OF THE LOVE INTERESTS WITH EITHER GENDER, AND AT THE SAME TIME, AND IT DOESN’T CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THEM (though at least a few do mention “owo i’ve never felt like this for [same gender] before…” but thats ok)

the writing and the characters! I love how most of them are extremely surprising with depths and completely open dark themes (KENT… GEORGE…). While not all of them are Extremely Developed And Deep Subversions Of Expectations, they’re not just stereotypes and they’ll express very human, real stuff, often without pulling any punches, calling things what they are. i love the writing of this game…

The occasional funny weirdness, like with the Junimos or the wizard

The graphics *w* the environments are beautiful, the animals are adorable…

The soundtrack!!!! I was in love 5 seconds in just because of the musical environment

Tbh you should watch it because it’s a ridiculous fucking cute queer love story, and also Miyano being Dent all over again except just 200% insufferable. And straight.

BUT ALL RIGHT I’M GONNA SELL IT TO YOU

The characters are millenials! With millenials issues like Thinking About The Future, mental health, being queer, and social media hell.

It’s driven by and focused on characters and relationships, and all of them are lovable and realistic and most of them really interesting! It plays with tropes and shonen clichés in interesting, fresh, very often totally unexpected ways! (but not JUST for shock value, etc. Also you’re probably not gonna be surprised by anything considering all the spoils hanging around, but still, genuinely interesting series writing).

Seriously, it’s a really well-done anime on all technical accounts, good writing and development, incredible pace, beautiful scenes, good atmospheres, great use of music, even symbolism... only the animation has suffered, famously, the skating sequences are unfortunately not all very pretty in the net-available version, but it’s still nice to look at, and occasionally gorgeous. I’ve cried and gotten chills at some routines after seeing them 5 times.

Also, it’s funny! (A lot of it in similar ways to Sun & Moon :D "WHAT THE FUCK”, charming, cheer joy humor that doesn’t come to the expanse of characters — there’s a LOT of sass and insulting, unfortunately including fat-shaming, but the series never shames its characters.)
