Also inserted on the Double Lysander in June 1943 was Noor Inayat Khan, the first F Section female radio operator sent into France. She soon became the last radio operator left in Paris and was given the chance to get out, but chose to stay. She was later betrayed and executed at Dachau in September 1944. Despite the interrogations, Noor gave nothing away and was later awarded a posthumous George Cross for her extreme courage after capture. (The National Archives)
