Mista Silva, the original pioneer and figurehead of one of the most important scenes in inner-city London right now in Afrobeats, releases his new track ‘Murda’.
One of the most prominent and exciting new underground waves bubbling in the city, Afrobeats is where many of Grime’s own stars find themselves at when they’re partying - recognising it as the emerging new music subculture following the increasingly mainstream exposure Grime is now experiencing: Mercury-prize winning emcee Skepta has embraced the scene with his remix of Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’ track (which Drake also jumped on) and J Hus has featured Silva on his breakthrough mixtape ‘The 15th Day’. It’s clear that the icons are real fans of the dancehall sound parties and culture pioneered and performed at by Silva.
