Today is the story of a guy with more heart than sense sometimes :p went to Petco today after running errands because... well, no reason I just wanted to see what they had in stock. I picked out some Nerites for my saltwater tank and saw this F8 puffer swimming in the fully marine section.

As the specialist was helping with the snails, I asked about him. She said they had him in freshwater for a while but he was declining and then has been in saltwater for about 2 weeks. Obviously he is better but F8s can't survive that indefinitely. So. I have a 29 gallon tank with only brackish tolerant fish and plants... so decided to get him.

Skinny little guy... placement in the tank is for pictures only, he's currently in an aerated bucket doing a drip acclimation (currently down to 1.015, dripping paused for the night). Hoping he'll be ready for 1.003 to 1.005 in the next day or two.

Haven't selected a name yet - might let the wife name him, but I'm leaning towards "Cinnamon Stick" for whatever reason.

It is done. Aside from a few more plants, a couple of extra unimportant decorations, and letting the plantlets grow in...its done. May I present my 30gal long, low-end brackish, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time map tank. And yes, the figure 8 puffer is named Link.

Continued good vibes for Bonk please. His front is still very swollen and he’s bottom sitting (checked his parameters- it’s not his water quality) but he is hanging on longer than expected. I I’m not sure if my brain is just looking for improvements, but I think his daily methylene blue baths are helping. Maybe he can fight this infection off. He got another dose of meds today.

I’m not super optimistic, but at 6 years old, he has beaten other ailments before and bounced back. I got him and his three brothers right before everything shut down in 2020- he was the only one that survived. I wanted to take a clear picture of his pattern today while he’s not actively, neurotically zooming for once.
