F2F → JETTBE
The drive back into town had Phoebe feeling completely drained. She knew that going to see Janka was a bad idea, but although this was the person she disliked most in this entire world, Phoebe found that she couldn't say no to someone in need of help. Even when that help involved borrowing a friend's car, digging her own savings account, and driving four hours North for a woman who couldn't be bothered to remember she even had kids half the time. She should've listened to the voice nagging her the entire morning beforehand. If she hadn't, she wouldn't have had to drive the entire four hours back from Fayetteville with her stomach in knots, and her mother’s careless disinterest once again cemented in the back of her mind.
She was exhausted by the time she was back in Cotton Plant, and wanted nothing more than to sleep as long as humanly possible to erase the last day of her life, but she still had to return Jett's car and thank him profusely for letting her borrow it. Hers was okay after the storm, but she hadn't trusted it to make the drive. With Jett being a mechanic and her friend, his seemed the best option, even with the distaste that the day had actually been. Phoebe ran a hand through her hair and drew in a deep breath, wanting to at least look somewhat put together compared to the mess she'd been the entire drive over. Her own apartment was only a couple blocks over so she could drop his car off and then walk home, and then throw her little one-woman pity party. Simple. Keys in hand, Phoebe made her way to Jett's front door and knocked, taking a step back as she waited.
