MULLIGAN.👨🏼‍🎨 www.jamescmulligan.com AN ANGEL ON MY PATH!!! ❤️On February 14th, 1991 (one year before she passed), I had one of my most cherished experiences early on in my fashion career just out of fashion college. Thanks to my then boss and now dear friend, Brent McDaneld, I worked with Ms. Hepburn & Huberty de Givenchy for a Valentines Day fashion show in San Francisco. I was to recieve Ms. Hepburn at the museum where the show was held and escort her to the green room, waiting with her until we sent her on the runway to surprise Hubert de Givenchy at the end of the show. I remember how nervous I was when I awaited with anticipation for the elevator doors to open for me to recieve her. When the doors opened, there she was...the most amazing gem I've ever seen dressed in a white silk charmeus, sheath gown by Givenchy. I greeted her, introduced my name (I think she noticed my nervousness) she then paused, smiled, looked at me with a twinkle in her eye and asked me: "Are we having fun yet?" I replied with a nervous chuckle: "Yes Ms. Hepburn, we most certainly are!" I grew up in a world where my sisters attending ettiquette and finishing school was the norm and required. I grew up in a time when you had to dress up when going to an airport to travel. I grew up in an era where accessories matching your outfits was a standard and watching my mother carefully plan out each of her outfits with perfectly selected accessories. I grew up shopping with my mother at the greatest fashion stores (where I eventually got to work): I.Magnin & Neiman Marcus.
