I think the way sonic frontiers depicts cyberspace is actually really interesting and says a lot about how our perception of computers and digital spaces has changed over time. Even in earlier sonic games like shadow 2005, you had cyberspace depicted as some kind of colorful space full of artificial shapes and geometry, accompanied by data lines or highways rapidly sending signals back and forth. What started as taking clear inspiration from the simplistic graphics of early video games and metaphor for early internet became a new genre of landscape in media. Look at megaman battle network for example!

Compare this to sonic frontiers. It defines cyberspace as a hyperrealistic space, using textures from the real world alongside weird, artificial glitches. It pulls so heavily from old games and realistic textures that the only thing setting it apart as digital apart from glitch effects (which themselves are easily mistaken for game bugs) are the strange placement of these features in the backgrounds and the frequent lines of energy passing through and around them. Sonic frontiers moved depictions of cyberspace from an optimistic look to the future to a pessimistic look at our past. The cyber world isn't colorful and impossible to behold anymore, it's a flavorless and buggy rehash of things we've seen a million times before. To be clear, it works for frontiers in particular, but I can't help but miss what "cyberspace" used to mean to many people, back when it seemed new and special.
