Face recognition technology, one of the crucial biometric processes used in various sectors including Airports, Railways, passports, and various other departments is a magnificent way to control criminal activities and also ensure safety and security. It is an advanced and unique technology with its share of challenges and limitations. What is Face recognition Technology? Face recognition…
Revolutionize Identity Authentication with Face Recognition Technology
In our rapidly evolving digital landscape, the need for secure and seamless identity authentication has become paramount. Traditional methods of username-password combinations are no longer sufficient to protect sensitive information and ensure the integrity of digital transactions. As we step into a new era of technological advancement, face recognition technology emerges as a revolutionary solution, transforming the way we authenticate identities. Hitoshi Kokumai - another step in the wrong direction https://lnkd.in/gB_-7EG7
Thanks Dr Vladas Leonas, GAICD, FACS, FIEAust for calling me.
I think we need more information before concluding it is “another step in the wrong direction.”
Our conclusion should hinge on
whether or not all the people concerned are transparently informed of the probability of a correct person rejected and a wrong person accepted, say, empirical false rejection rates and the corresponding false acceptance rates actually measured in the real use environments,
whether or not all the people are transparently informed of what would happen when their face data get leaked for whatever reasons,
and whether or not the face data are reused for identity authentication as well as individual identification.
The reasons? — Offered here “I support Biometrics as a Technology” https://www.linkedin.com/posts/hitoshikokumai_democracy-privacy-ethics-activity-6993771041974095872-2eOx

Everyday Things That Completely Replaced By Facial Recognition Technology
Technology brought many changes in our daily life. It influences everything from what we do every day and what we eat to shaping the economy and our future. Facial recognition technology is cutting-edge as well as evolving rapidly to the changing scenarios and reaching very close to everyday life. There are things in which facial recognition is replacing traditional methods to ease and speed up processes. Let's see some applications where face recognition is getting adapted.
1. Password
All mainstream smartphone manufacturers now offer facial recognition locks in their products. People may utilize face authentication on laptops by leveraging the Windows Hello biologin feature, available on Windows 7 and beyond. The feature will allow people to lock their devices and authenticate web applications, online services, social media apps, and documents. It also enables businesses to use biologin for employees and attendance tracking.
2.ATM security
Still, many developing countries deploy security guards in front of ATMs and ordinary CCTV cameras to ensure security. But many banks across the globe started using facial recognition cameras to identify culprits who do malpractices at ATMs. Advanced system designs can track people who committed malpractices in ATMs and deny them access to the machine or inform the police.
3. Payment services
Biometric authentication is not new for online and offline payment services. Instead of PINs, ATMs use facial recognition to identify customers, and PINs can also use as multi-factor authentication to improve security.
Digital payment services are using face recognition to authenticate customers for transactions. Only a look at a facial recognition security camera is enough to pay the bills.
4. Keys
Anybody can use keys to expensive cars, doors, and lockers if they have them. But things are changing, with facial recognition replacing the keys. People just have to look into the car doors and entrance doors to open them. People can customize the lock by authorizing their family with the locks, so that they may also enter the house, use the car, and parking area.
5. Tickets
Countries across the world are promoting paperless travel. In order to achieve that, facial recognition technology is being deployed at railway stations and airports. Instead of providing a piece of a paper ticket, the ticket officer will take a picture of the passenger's face and provide access to the gate system. Similarly, at airports, boarding passes are being replaced by facial recognition. Passengers' faces are the tickets and boarding passes.
6. Security guards
Home security is of paramount importance for every country. In daily life, we see a lot of police and security workers trying hard to secure the roads, airports, bus stations, rail stations, and all other public places. Facial recognition cameras are installed at public places, replacing the security guards and doing the job of finding criminals, missing people, dropped objects, drivers without a license, fining for trespassing or illegal activities in public places, and unauthorized entries.
Conclusion
Facial recognition technology has reached every lifestyle device and service. The future is of biometrics and facial recognition that allows contactless and seamless authentication methods.
