I’m currently very close to finishing my rewatch of the first arc of the game, Witches of Salem, and I have found a very interesting detail. Take a look at the bribe message that someone at the Putnam house has sent to Richard Murray (to those with vision impairements, I’ll let a description by the end of the post, but I hope you can have an idea of the important details before I can keep you in the less important ones!):
I promise it’ll make more sense after I start publishing my recaps on the plot, but all you need to pay attention to the date on the paycheck. It says 19 of May 20... and then the last two digits there’s a coffee spill mark clearly made by a mug. That’s really relevant to me, because, as of The Wolf’s Labirynth, there is an airline that’s called Chechoslovak Airlines, and because of that I used to think that this game took place sometime when Czechoslovakia was still a country, which would date it to, at max, 1992.
Anyway, another important detail is that I believe that either my eyes are failing me or the date written in the paycheck is either 2012 or 2013, which would make sense, since I remember Journals came out sometime between 2013-2014, only getting a trailer in 2015.
ID: A screenshot from a Youtube Video called “Jurnalsof the Unknown Witches Of Salem Episode 8″. In the screenshot, there is a shaggy letter with a three-wild-boards emblem, which reads: “Murray, I hope this “present” serves to mitigate a bit our differences. If you get to win the elections you know what to do: (in all caps) the Museum must close (end of all caps)! And also make sure that those “3 little witches” do not mess with me any more. Is that clear? I obviously count with your discretion in all these matters...”. Below the message, there is a green paycheck directed to Richard Murray, in the sum of fifty thousand dollars. It is signed “Gregorius Putnam” in cursive.
