Hi guys, I have a small but significant bone to pick with regards to giving credit where credit is due.
The English subtitles for the above video were being revised by the facebookies ready for publication, as they have done so brilliantly for many other videos.
Does it look familiar? This was posted on YouTube and Tumblr with an identical subtitle track recently by a member of the Tumblr fandom, who I will not name.
It seems as though the subtitle track was taken from the website they use to work on them and then uploaded without giving credit to them at all. This isn't okay.
People work so hard to bring this content to those of us not lucky enough to understand, and it breaks my heart to not see them getting the thanks and appreciation they deserve.
Now of course there is a chance that it could be one of the following;
The two tracks just happen to be identical, and two translators just have some connection on a higher level.
It was uploaded with every intention to be credited to the facebookies and this was forgotten.
If it is either of these, then I apologise, however the fact that no permission was acquired from the translators beforehand and that the translation is word for word identical tells me it's straight up theft.
This is a good time to stress the importance of posting sources for reposts of original content. 'But Elly!' I hear you cry 'The video isn't original content!' that may be so, but the subtitle track most definitely is. As far as I see it, it's no different to passing someone else's artwork or writing off as your own. It's just not on.
I know the facebookies are very upset about this and would like an explanation, if the original poster wants to do that... Well it's up to her, but I wanted to set the record straight and show them that Tumblr is a nice friendly place, and stuff like this only happens now and again.
Anyway, lets all watch the video again because hello NH hair, how u doin ;)
