Because the Laurel Lance she knew, the one she loved and called her sister, was dead and buried.

          Hands instantly braced against her knees as she fought against her body wanting to collapse. Ears ringing with intense pain that had, in the moment it was inflicted, caused her to cry out. Eretria could feel the slow trails of blood drip out of her ears and down along her jawbone. Opening her eyes, a dark gaze shifted with a tilt of her head towards the woman that had caused her current state. 

                    “ Sorry. Didn’t quite (tone emphasizes the next work) h e a r  that. ”

Recovery takes time // Lance Sisters

When Sara stepped off the ship and found herself back in Star City for a while, she decided to first seek out her family. A quick visit to Laurel's place found that her sister wasn't at home so she decided to go over to the arrow cave thinking that her family and friends would most likely be there. When she arrived and walked in, it seemed quiet though she noticed the lights were on so that meant that at least someone was there more than likely. She turned the corner and her dad was sat at the desk. "Hi daddy" Sara greeted him, smiling a little when he greeted her back with a "Hello baby" and got up to hug her. "How have things been? I was going to see Laurel but she wasn't there" "The team has been busy, there was an attack by Damien Dahrk. Sara, your sisters in the hospital" She had frozen up when he told her at first, unable to move, fearing the worst. She couldn't lose Laurel, she couldn't cope without her big sister. Once her father told her that the girl was in Star City hospital in a coma, she raced over there as fast as she could. Her temper threatened to flare up when she wasn't immediately allowed into Laurels room but confirmation that she was her sister eventually meant a nurse guided her to the room. Sara hadn't moved, slept or anything in the few days since she took up residence at Laurel's bedside, willing her sister to wake up from the coma. She was exhausted but nobody could move her from the room. The doctors and nurses had eventually stopped trying, Quentin would bring coffee and food and a blanket on one occasion to at least make sure Sara at least didn't make herself sick ignoring her most basics needs. Occasionally she would talk to Laurel, just telling her about anything that came into her head. That day she decided to braid Laurel's hair, her hands working deftly yet very gently, hoping it would cheer her sister up when she woke, telling a story as she worked. "So then Ollie walks in, and I had to pretend that I hadn't seen them making out. I know I used to date him and we'd only just broken up really at that point, but it just didn't hurt somehow. Like I wasn't meant to be with him anyway" @facethedarknxss
